A job
Crew Member (Current Employee), Punta Gorda, FL – May 8, 2013
Pros: discounts
Cons: lack of immediate leadership and role models
As an entry level employee my experience was what i expected. After I learned everything besides being a manager work became easier, I knew how to multitask with the different positions within the store and operate efficiently. The toughest part was not the work but the knowledge knowing how tough it is to move up in position if at all.

Lazy workers
Cashier (Current Employee), Ohio – April 29, 2013
Pros: getting out of the house, a few friendships i have developed
Cons: everything else
I like my job because I get to have adult time (most of the time) and the hours I can work isn't an issue. I am one of the hardest workers there. I take pride in my work no matter what I am doing. I don't stand around, I don't text on my phone. I get what I need to get done, done and it looks awesome. I've noticed all of the manager or team leaders – more... don't have kids if they do the kids are adults (1 manager). I have tried to be a team lead, was told to open up my availability so I did got another excuse. They only want people without kids and brains. I don't take bull from anyone, not even the managers or team leaders. If I see something that needs to be done and I have been doing my job and miss teeheehee is over there talking to her friends I will let tell her to go do that job. I have told the GM that I do that and he is fine with it. It seems to me too that they (managers, team leads) are afraid of hurting peoples feelings (making them work). I'm not you came to do a job. I have been a loyal employee for 9 months. I have been late 1 time and called off 1 time. I have picked up shift of people that call of regularly. Had one girl work there for 3 months called off probably a month and a half of that time. She quit she didn't get fired. I haven't gotten a raise since I have been there. I work my buns off for 8 bucks an hr. There is another employee that has been there for 3 yrs and hasn't gotten a raise. I do this job to get me time. I have been a SAHM for 12 yrs and needed to get out of the house. I feel bad for the others that actually work and is trying to support their families on this pay. Also, the GM, managers, team leaders and deli hosts get a bonus if they sell so much coffee and deli products which is bull since us cashiers are the ones making and selling the products. The deli host is only there for a few hrs a day. I usually work evening and in the 9 months I have been there I have only seen her two times. – less

Easy Pace, Friendly Co-Workers
Cashier (Former Employee), Biggs Junction, OR – April 18, 2013
Pros: organized, friendly co-workers, worked independantly
Cons: short breaks
I worked the graveyard shift so things were mostly quiet. I got along well with my co-workers. My supervisor would make me a list of things I needed to do per my request so I was more organized and got things done alot quicker. My supervisor left me on my own most of the time and I was still able to complete my tasks without a worry.

Poor Management, you do all the work.. They take credit.. U loose your job.. Or your pay never goes up
Shift lead (Former Employee), SPMN – April 13, 2013
Pros: not really any
Cons: long days, extra stress, empty promises, low pay, fake smiles/ attitude from upper management.. need i say more
I was promised the world by area management to get me to work for them. My first day on the job I should have known something was wrong when I was asked to clock in early...(careful clocking in early or late is a time card exception and they use that to eventually say u were stealing extra time) then come to find out my store level manager changed my – more... time and tried not to pay me because it would have been overtime and they don't allow even a minute of overtime.
The overall experience was not worth it. The employees were great to get to know... But I recommend staying far far away from this job. – less

Very Fast Pace work environment
Cashier/Shift Supervisor (Former Employee), West Monroe, LA – March 30, 2013
Pros: rewarding to help customers
Cons: night hours
My work day consisted of Bank deposits from another store in building, cashier audits, inventory, stock, deli preparation for morning shift, Accounts Recieving for corporate accounts, transflo fax, cat scales, and over seeing cashier and a shift supervisor. I was in charge of reporting nightly numbers and counts of all merchandise asigned to be counting – more... during night hours. I learned to multi task and time management to complete my duties before next shift. I enjoyed using the POS system and helping commercial driver reach their destination safely and with any credit billing errors they may received. – less

Enjoyable work place
Cashier; Coffee Hostess (Former Employee), Circleville, OH – March 21, 2013
Pros: 50% off food from pizza hut
Cons: long hours; low pay
There honestly was never a dull moment working for Pilot Travel Center. Everyone for the most part got along and enjoyed working together. The customers were great, but every once in a while we would get a grumpy customer and nothing could be done right for that customer. I learned that being able to handle situations under pressure is a key part of – more... working with the public and it does take time to create that personal relationship with the regulars. The management team was always flexable and rarely in bad moods that they took it out on the employees. The hardest part of the entire job was probably completing my daily list of dutys on time. The list was always long and you only had normally eight hours to get things done. That is you had to get it done between helping customer and getting everyones breaks out of the way. The interaction with customers was the most enjoyable part of my job. The customers would always laugh with you or just strike up random conversations and asking you how you were doing that day. – less

SHIFT MANAGER (Former Employee), WILDWOOD GA – March 20, 2013

Daily Work Load
Asst.GM (Former Employee), Avon, OH – March 19, 2013
Pros: great atmosphere and stability for growth
Cons: family time was not consistant
My typical day started off doing a walk around inspection as I greeted both customers and employees. I would then after a quick inspection of coolers and back shelves I begin a short excel order sheet for daily merchandise orders for vendors arriving in the mornings. Then follow up on all cash counts and prepare daily bank deposits and reconcile accordingly. – more... That would be my first hour and shortly after that I would have a game plan card filled out for all scheduled employees and then a meeting not lasting more then 15 minutes with my department heads about what has transpired and what needs to be done and schedule hiring dates and training schedules. The hardest part of the job was maintaing the day to day operation and still stay with in P&L budget guidelines but not too difficult or impossible. The most joyful aspect of the job is the journey of seeing work well done and especially when there is interaction with great feedback from a satisfied customer. – less

Fast pace gas station that required a lot of effort
Cashier (Current Employee), Kanona, NY – March 18, 2013
Working overnight a lot I'd get there and sign in, sweep the floors until someone counted out of a register so I could count in. Continued to sweep the floors while managing register then organizing the cigarettes behind the counter all while still managing register. Clean all of the counters and stock merchandise.
