Primary Function: Reporting to the Managing Director, the Human Resources (HR) Manager is responsible for the design and implementation of strategic HR policies and programs that are aligned with the corporate culture, vision and values. The HR Manager will lead the ongoing administration of a variety of HR services which include but are not limited to recruitment, selection, attraction and retention initiatives, organizational development, performance management, training, talent management and succession planning, compensation and benefits administration, positive employee relations, and employee counselling services.

Educational Requirements & Qualifications:

  • University Degree/College Diploma in Human Resources Management ; CHRP designation is preferred
  • 5-7 years experience in a Human Resources Manager role
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including: listening, coaching, and mentoring
  • Strong leadership, project management and time management skills
  • Outstanding presentation and negotiation skills
  • Solid knowledge of applicable legislation (Employment Standards Act, Human Rights, OSHA, WSIB/WCB, Pay Equity, etc.)
  • Knowledge of U.S. Employment and Labor Law Regulations
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microcomputer office applications software including MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and web browsers, social media, etc.)
  • Ability to travel as required

Responsibilities:

  • Champion the development of an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, team-work, and high performance
  • Execute a robust on-boarding strategy in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Design and implement HR policies and programs that support the goals and objectives of the organization
  • Ensure job descriptions for all positions are accurate and up-to-date
  • Work with management and employees to identify training and development opportunities
  • Create employee rewards and recognition programs
  • Conduct performance reviews with department managers and monitor employee productivity, attitudes and performance results
  • Work with management and employees to identify, counsel and coach through performance management and behavioural issues, providing corrective action and progressive discipline as appropriate
  • Provide assistance with implementing any HR related software systems
  • Recruit and retain top quality staff for each department; conduct interviews
  • Develop a talent pool of qualified candidates
  • Build a Quality Assurance program that is tied to performance review process
  • Create compensation plans and provide administration for employee benefits
  • Maintain excellent facilities conducive to enhancing employee morale and productivity
  • Provide company-wide communications and manage social committees
  • Establish and introduce a “Code of Conduct”
  • Ensure employee health, safety, wellness, welfare, and engagement
