Provide accurate, reliable, and organized training. Listen to employees who are passionate about the animals. Have district managers who have experience within the entry-level positions in order to accurately evaluate instead of outrageous expectations. Pay employees for what they are worth and the amount of labor they perform. Minimum pay does not accurately reflect the high physically taxing labor employees do especially the Pet Care Specialists! I work within the PetsHotel for minimum wage. My responsibilities most shifts include: room checks cleaning the animals bodily wastes, tidying their rooms, cleaning their beds, ensuring they have food and water (all at least two to three times a shift); playroom times ensuring the safety, well-being, and overall happiness of the dogs and also ensuring no dog is bullied (also requires the occasional separation of a dog fight); baths and brushouts; nail trimming; Doggie Valet (even during the cold mornings up until the weather hits 0deg Celcius); paper work such as pawgress reports, vomit/diarrhea/not eliminating charts; health evaluations; preparation of meals and snacks; along with other activities. In my experience, the labor needed to provide a quality job is not reflected in the hourly wage. Not to mention the lack of appreciation and respect for part-time employees. Part-time employees are not guaranteed their availability (even if they have other responsibilities such as school), nor are they guaranteed time off (not even for funerals, weddings, exams). My advice for management would be to consider the work their employees are doing and ask themselves why they neglect to recognize it.

Went from being an amazing company full of care when I started to you are just a number and how much you can sell. Such a shame I loved my job.

The company in itself is okay-ish. My store itself is however far superior to the company. The company is more of a "sell the product" rather than "appreciate the animals". We go through the extra mile to make sure that every animal in our store has a good quality of life before being adopted to their future pet parents.

If I ever got restless and wanted to experience somthing new or try another career path. Maybe my ambitions will change in the future but I can't imagine leaving because of the company itself.

It helps but you don’t need it, as they give you a tiny booklet which basically gives you a quick rundown of how to take care of each animal we sell in store (since they are garbage at actually taking the man-hours to train associates).
