Our client, a large, North American truck-transport firm, is seeking an experienced Terminal Operations Manager for their Saskatchewan based facility. This key individual will be responsible
for managing the daily functions and activities of the internal operations team which includes overseeing Dispatch and Planning as well as the team of CSR's. This individual will be a polished professional but also have the ability to be hands on in nature in order to effectively implement transportation services to their clients while ensuring all activity and processes are accurately documented and recorded in the company’s computerized transportation management system.
STAFF, OPERATIONS & EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT:
-Assisting with the recruitment, interviewing, training and development of individual staff skills/tasks. Coaching and mentoring, scheduling and managing all Support Staff and Drivers within their respective areas of responsibility, ensuring quality throughout. Ensuring 24-hour shift coverage. Conducting regular formal employee reviews and informal feedback discussions for all staff within their area of responsibility.
-Ensuring all work is accurately entered/managed in the internal transportation management system in a timely manner from A through Z. For example: from order entry, to planning, to activating, tracking and closing trips. This experience is critical.
-Ensuring that the Dispatch, Planning, Driving personnel as well as the Customer Service staff, are provided with the tools essential to perform their job functions to the highest level of standards. Quality must be a priority with this manager.
-Managing all equipment resources.
-Assisting Dispatchers in identifying and resolving issues on a daily basis.
-Monitoring service levels to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded
-Administering disciplinary action as required
-Acting as primary front-line operations point person for any billing & payroll/financial issues
-Recommendations for continuous improvement in all areas including methodologies & increased efficiencies.
-Key liaison between supervisors, staff, customers & senior executive management
-The ideal individual will have several years experience managing a trucking operation. You will possess professional leadership capabilities and strong analytical and decision making skills. You believe in instilling quality in everything you do and inspire staff to strive for the same at all times.
-We require a individual with excellent verbal and written communication and mathematical skills. The ability to be polished and professional at all times with both the internal staff, driving personnel and the external customers.
-You will have a proven ability to handle multiple projects and large workloads/tasks professionally.
-Ability to meet strict deadlines.
-Direct experience with staff scheduling in a variable work volume environment
-Strong computer literacy in MS Office and computerized dispatch systems
-2 or more years in a supervisory or management leadership role in the truck-transportation industry. Experience in a 24 x 7 operation.
-Post secondary education
-Familiarity with computerized dispatch, database systems, desktop computers and peripherals is a must
-Ability to manage large workloads and meet strict deadlines
-Some travel may be required from time to time
