Good start
Customer Service Associate/Teller (Former Employee) –  NYMarch 30, 2016
Good place to start, but not for long term. Lots of talk about advancement but you get a run around and ultimately stay in the same position your entire career there. Poor raises. Its a good place to learn about banking, but very high turn over rate. People are constantly quitting.
Pros
401k good learning experience
Cons
Management, long hours, not some place you want to be long term, talk about moving up in company but nothing ever comes of it.

Great work/life balance, behind on technology
Online (Current Employee) –  Bridgeport, CTJanuary 28, 2016
Pros:
- great work/life balance
- my team is a great team to be a part of
- good benefits
- job security is good, retention rate is awesome, definitely not a revolving door

Cons:
- Advancement opportunities depend on which team you end up working for, sometimes there are no advancement opportunities for you and you have to move to a different team
- Behind on technology, never innovators, always catching up because they lag behind in features in comparison to other banks

strong customer service values
Financial Services Associate (Current Employee) –  Levittown, NYJanuary 24, 2016
Your title only means as much as you can do within the confines of the company but not how little you may do -although entitled for many to understand as a banker, still take on teller transactions, however am also licensed for residential lending and can generate business lines as well -giving the customer the full 360 effect of you being their personal banker

coworkers are energetic and always willing to help -not just the customer but the team

hardest part of the job is really delving in to a person's finances and reasons as to why and how they want their money handled -tend to get a greater story than expected and they
re not particularly present ones

best part- finding the perfect financial solution for your customer , very rewarding to watch people receive whaqt they never thought they could get, help people achieve their various financial goals in a multitude of ways

management- varies branch to branch, but ultimately , based on upper management -market and regional managers -that make the job a little more difficult -the promise of moving up "quickly" in the company sometimes leads to empty promises, some HR standards are simply double-edge swords of rules and penalties
Pros
promotional incentives
Cons
inadequate staffing, little work/life balance

Too boring and you have to take too much from the callers
Call Center Representative (Former Employee) –  Burlington, VTDecember 16, 2015
Drudgery is the best description of this job. Awful. Inflexible schedule. Horrible pay. Management doesn't do much more than train new people coming through the revolving door of this institution. Customers must bear with out of date technology and you are the one who gets to explain to them why the bank gets so much of their money in fees. (Even though it's the bank's fault.) Bad culture for customers.
If this is your first job you may not get how awful it is, so go for it. But if you've had other jobs that paid more with less aggravation from customers, then you should avoid it. Not a good place to work unless you want to be sworn at all day and get a fat rear end from sitting all day literally attached to a phone.
Pros
Nice office space with a view
Cons
Almost everything else

Loved working here
Clerk Typist (Former Employee) –  Bridgeport, CTFebruary 27, 2016
You go in and you know what is expected of you and you do it. Learned to get along with different people and/or personalities. Co-workers were great once I got to know them and vice versa. There wasn't any difficult part of the job. You got along with management and they were very helpful when you needed time off or were ill.
Pros
Just a great place to work. 401K health insurance.

SR Loan Servicing Call Center Rep (Current Employee) –  Williston, VTMarch 31, 2016
My main job was to help branches with customers on issues with there loans. I would direct them how to get some thing fixed or who they would need to get in touch with. I learned a lot about loans and how to navigate different soft ware programs. The management on the most part is very good to work for. I just ended up with a manager who didn't respect me, I worked with a great group of people, there was 11 of us and it was a lot of fun and we all worked really good together.
Pros
Great pay, bonuses, and great people to work with
Cons
once you have an issue with a manager is in possible to move to another department.

Great training, but limited advancement opportunities outside of retail banking
Vice President, Financial Services Manager (Current Employee) –  CTMay 9, 2016
7 day a week bank which provides great opportunities for the busy consumer and business customer. People's places a huge emphasis on the customer experience being top notch.

However, the growth of the organization is meeting the stereotype of becoming corporate and taking away benefits and perks that made the bank enjoyable for its employees. Employees are responsible for ever growing work loads despite reduction in staffing, having to train new employees, and handling customer interruptions. A typical banking day is working 9:30am-7:30pm (open to close) due to staffing shortages. The bank has seen 30% turnover in staff. This opens the doors for errors, especially with back office functions being pushed on to the branches.
Pros
Allows for a day off during the week with working every other weekend, direct management is very responsive, great education and training program
Cons
Lacks Advancement, losing qualified employees, reduction in bonus structure, back office functions being added to branch responsibiities

Great Coworkers, upper management was the issue
Customer Service Associate (Current Employee) –  Wells, MEJune 16, 2015
I work with wonderful coworkers daily but the upper management needs work. They don't understand what it is like to work face to face with customers so they make awful decisions based on assumption of day to day work. They don't treat you like individuals. It is also all about numbers without even considering the factors involved. They do offer a lot of training, but no pay raise for any of it.

The branch hours are in middle of the day so it is very hard to balance work life. 7 day banking if you have 2 days off during a weekday you must work open to close for rest of the working week

Branch Manager (Former Employee) –  Nassau County, NYMay 17, 2016
Ill-prepared management, constantly dishing out reasons for not being able to meet sales targets, when the problem is inherently simple if viewed from a somber day that should consist of employee retention, their success, and overall progress. Instead, they rely upon any single week fraught with training that could either be in-branch, or at a central location, far from everyone and everything else, sales meetings that are scheduled for 3 times a day, not to mention impromptu conference calls, and the call for all managers, or bankers, or tellers, or whoever else works there, to just show up and start taking redundant notes. Then, before the dust settles, a brief summary of each individual meeting, conference call, daily huddle, afternoon training sessions, and evening wrap-up emails, are sent to everyone in the district to showcase what you learned. Mind you, this is just a week, and then, after all said and done, sales are at zero, employees are burned out with useless tasks, leading to staffing issues on a daily basis because individuals have either had it, don't care, are let go, or just leave of their own free will. Overall, the Bank has potential, but with the current management, it's highly unlikely to go far.

Benefits are great, co-worker are wonderful
Senior Financial Services Associate (Former Employee) –  Bridgeport, CTSeptember 11, 2015
I worked in several different areas (corporate head quarter, 6 different branches, and 4 departments) if you want to learn about the banking system this is the place you want to work. They will teach you everything you want to learn 95% of the managers are great, most started as tellers and worked their way up. Tons of opportunity to advance. The bad part is the pay most tellers and back office staff start at minimum wage. The branch employee have goals which can be reached if you work hard. Co-workers are great but they never stay long most quit with in a year, because of the hours (I worked in the supermarket locations while in the branches). The long days which was at least 2 days a week were from open to close 8:30am to 7:45pm.
Pros
Great evoriment to work in
Cons
Hours and pay
