great co workers with bad management
Tote Sorter (Former Employee), Kansas City, MO – January 10, 2013
At penske we arranged empty totes that Ford products came in. We would sort by size and color and palatize them on skids to be shipped back out and reused. My co workers were great but management was not so good.

Stressful work environment, no training, management is awful
Track and Trace (Former Employee), Saint Joseph, MI – January 7, 2013
There is a severe lack of communication when I was working in Track and Trace. Management made it clear they don't care about their employees. They try to squeeze as much work out of you as possible for the least amount of money. Worst job I've ever had.

tech2 mechanic (Current Employee), Berwyn, PA – December 20, 2012
Pros: none that come to mind.
Cons: just about everything.
perhaps not as a whole , but penske mgmt team at the peco facility are extremely insensitive, the team has core integrity issues. Not very sincere, actually rather insincere.idle promises. spout the virtues of a safe working environment { only if it cost effective to them.}.Very unsavory business practices.say one thing and do another. As a whole not – more... very trustworthy and not forthcoming in the manner in wich they treat thier employees. a negative expierience as a whole. – less

Typical Class A driving job.
Class A Driver (Current Employee), Hayward, CA – December 8, 2012
Pros: steady work/food industry
Cons: difficult customer. lazy co-workers. ineffective supervisor.
It's a typical driving job. We are a logistics provider and the current customer I am working for is Mission Foods. We deliver their finished product to their distribution warehouses located in Northern California. For a multi-million dollar company, the equipment is falling apart and they don't ever do anything extra for their employees at all. You – more... will never get a raise. – less

Average you work hard and mind your on mind place.
Diesel Technician (Former Employee), DFW Airport, TX – December 2, 2012
Pros: the pay was good.
Cons: personnel had low moral
A typical day at work: Come to work on time, get an assignment and stay busiy. Too much politics in the climate.

What I,ve learned: Working as a contract maintainance provider can be consuming.

Management: I never see them. Just hear from them through the network when they miss their quota (bonus).

My co-workers: These guys work apart. We was not – more... close. – less

It's a fair and safe place to work.
Jeep Driver (Current Employee), Clyde, OH – November 25, 2012
Pros: oppurtunities for overtime
Cons: outside of piece rate, hourly pay too low
Dock drivers are compensated by piece rate. For me , this adds a little stress. I want to do my job properly with out being rushed.

I get along with management and co-workers just fine. The hardest part of the job is figuring out how to load some of the trucks to make all the product fit but thats ok because I welcome challenge.

The most enjoyable – more... part of the job is taking pride in knowing I did my job properly and efficiently at the end of the day. – less

A laid back, yet fast paced work environment.
Management Trainee (Current Employee), Columbus, OH – November 20, 2012
Pros: fun, challenging, and fast paced.
Cons: long hours and little room for advancement
Every day at Penske is unlike any day prior. There is always a new task and/or issue to resolve and conquer. It is an enjoyable environment to work in because the employees are all very personable. Truck rental is a challenging industry to catch onto, yet very rewarding.

Very demanding job with 14 hour day, plus weekends
Production / Warehouse Manager (Former Employee), Garland, TX – November 6, 2012
Cons: long hours with no overtime pay
Warehouse and Materials Manager at the International Truck and Engine Account.
Managed responsibilities for five salaried supervisors, 150 hourly associates and all line-side stocking and replenishment activities at the Garland Assembly Plant. Primary on-site resource to administer all operational policies. Maintain error free replenishment at the assembly – more... line and maintain a warehouse inventory accuracy of no less than 98%. Responsible for developing and identifying cost saving initiatives and key performance indicators. Responsible for preparing plant floor and replenishment processes to support an increased build rate from 88 trucks per day in April 2004 to currently over 145 trucks per day. Train, develop and coach employees on replenishment / warehouse processes. Conduct annual performance reviews for salary associates. Ensure appropriate and efficient staffing to eliminate overtime, support customer objectives and meet business plan. Maintain adherence to OSHA and corporate safety policies through training and safety reward programs. Effectively communicate corporate objectives and metrics to staff. Provide management / customer appropriate reports on operational / safety issues. My first task as manager was to improve the “clean truck” percentage. I was able to evaluate the processes and operations the first month as manager, at which time I setup Kanban systems in many areas, as well as use Kaizen methods. By implementing these processes, I was able to improve the “clean truck” rate to over 98 %. Because the “clean truck” rate was improved at this facility, International Truck and Engine moved production of a new line of trucks to the facility and increased the daily production rate to 145 trucks a day. – less
