Aftercare Transitional Support program works to establish a pathway to independence for youth aged 16+ who are part of the York Region Children’s Aid Society and are looking to transition onto independent living. The primary focus of the program is to promote interdependence and helping the youth develop a system of supports within the community. This is an outreach based voluntary program.
The ATS Team Lead will provide direct support to the ATS Worker and the ATS Group Facilitator; providing leadership to the team; managing program operations; outcomes and administration. Ensures key relationships with funder, community partners, and others having impact on the program. In addition manages a case load and provides case management services to youth and acts as a positive role model, mentor, and support for youth as they learn new skills, co-ordinate youth action plan activities, monitor progress, and keep client case notes.
QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS REQUIRED:
CYW Degree/diploma or a related Human Services discipline or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum two (2) years supervisory experience and demonstrated experience working with youth. Leadership skills, including motivation, delegation, coaching/mentoring, empowerment and the ability to make critical decisions independently. Additional experience will demonstrate an understanding of case management principles and the regulatory environment pertaining to youth (CFSA). Proven experience in Youth development principles. Demonstrates strong assessment skills and is familiar with relevant issues pertaining to youth and experience with outreach activities. The ideal candidate will be able to work as a team member in a dynamic, complex environment and organize time and workload effectively. Strong demonstrable oral and written communication with all levels of staff, the public and clients while maintaining objectivity. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, community agencies and the public. The successful candidate will be motivated, reliable, have excellent time management skills, a strong work ethic, empathetic, and able to work effectively within a team. Working knowledge of York Region services
Current first aid/CPR certification, current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check), car and valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
