JOB POSTING: Volunteer Coordinator Position Part-Time 17.5 hours a week
Parkgate Community Services Society is a registered not-for-profit society providing community based services, recreation, education, community development and health promotion activities through Parkgate Community Center and the surrounding Seymour River area. We are currently looking for an experienced individual to join our dynamic team and be a part of this thriving and active community.
Scope of Position
The Volunteer Coordinator acts as a catalyst for community engagement. Working collaboratively with other PCSS staff, the volunteer coordinator empowers community members to join Parkgate in achieving its strategic plan to “impact the life of every member of our community.” This includes assessing opportunities for volunteer placements; developing proactive recruitment plans; managing the volunteer database; providing training, mentoring and coaching to volunteers, and acting as an advocate for volunteerism in the community while reflecting the overall values of the organization.
Key Responsibilities Develop and implement goals and objectives for the volunteer program which reflect the vision and mission of the organization and is guided by the strategic plan Support community capacity building, Encourage leadership and volunteer opportunities for PCSS and the community. Volunteer engagement. Coordination and organization of the program including matching PCSS needs to volunteer skills Develop partnerships by working with organizations across different sectors to establish good working relationships and to identify community needs and contacts for the program Advocacy and evaluation of the Volunteer Program Design and implement recognition events for all volunteers. Determine program, resource/budgetary, operational and organizational requirements for the department. Coordination and implementation of special projects as needed
Education, Training and Experience Min. 2 years experience managing a volunteer program and/or relevant experience in community development, outreach, community programming and volunteer supervision Excellent communication, planning, leadership, coaching and problem solving abilities; Understanding of individual and community barriers to social inclusion; Ability to work well independently as well as work collaboratively as part of a team; Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development Demonstrated proficiency in the MS Office suite of desktop applications Familiarity with cloud technology, ability to learn client management systems is an asset
Hourly Rate: $22 an hour
