The Technical Assistant to the General Manager is a member of the leadership team who will work alongside the Mill General Manager to provide consultation, leadership and strategic focus to all facets of operations.
Daily assist in mill troubleshooting and operational challenges.
Provide input and guidance on best practice strategies
Monitors equipment condition, anticipates potential failures, and formulates solutions.
Developing manufacturing and operational strategic plans and ensuring implementation will result in achieving the mill’s strategy, growth and profit objectives;
To perform monitoring activities that optimizes equipment reliability and efficiency;
All other duties assigned by the Mill General Manager
Degree in a related engineering discipline or MBA would be considered an asset
15-20 years’ experience within a pulp and paper industry
10+ years in a management position
Kraft pulp, TMP, and/or BCTMP knowledge and experience
Knowledge of the product cycle, material acquisition and sales
Excellent project management skills
Superior communication skills across all levels
Strong management and demonstrated leadership skills
Excellent problem – solver to maintain/increase productivity levels to agreed targets.
Excellent financial and budget management skills
Ability to develop, formulate strategy and exercise good judgment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Adaptable to establish themselves within a new and challenging environment
