This opportunity would provide you with exposure to both Federal and Provincial regulated work environments. You would have an opportunity to work with several of British Columbia’s largest construction firms on multi-million dollar construction projects as well as with clients in roofing, steel erection, general contracting, transportation, aviation, asbestos and lead abatement. Your work would expose you to various disciplines in our field; safety, hygiene, environmental and systems implementation.

This position offers a great balance between fieldwork and administration in a supportive team focused work environment. You must have the ability to work independently, prioritize your activities, meet deadlines and communicate clearly and effectively to a varied group of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
-Conduct contractor safety pre-qualification audits;
-Orient contractors, employees and other stakeholders to the clients contractor management program;
-Liaising with multiple stakeholders to identify and communicate associated risk and mitigation strategies.
-Conduct regular monitoring/inspections and job observations to assess compliance and performance;
-Carry-out field/site hands-on aspects of industrial hygiene and safety management system audits, site assessments and field work;
-Document creation, formatting and management activities in relation to reports, letters, memos and correspondence;
-Provide OHS awareness and technical training to clients as required;
-Provide first aid services on site as required;
-Other such duties as required.

Desirable Skills, Experience and Qualifications
-Post secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Sciences is an asset;
-Construction Safety Officer certification is a requirement
-Occupational First Aid level 2 or higher is a requirement;
-Experience in the construction and industrial industries;
-Knowledge/experience with OHS Management Systems and audit tools;
-Effective written and verbal communication, organizational and analytical skills;
-Must have very good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
-Knowledge of industrial hygiene concepts would be an asset;
-Willing to pursue further professional development.
