Our Prevention Team seeks a qualified candidate for a position with our Prevention Team. This individual will be responsible for the coordination and operation of primary prevention programs in three secondary schools in Delta (Delta, South Delta and Seaquam) and their respective feeder elementary schools.

The candidate we seek will be able to use a broad-based health promotion approach when developing and co-creating primary prevention programs and activities; provide meaningful and accurate information to the student population, parents and school staff related to healthy lifestyle choices and decisions (including, but not limited to, information related to “gateway drugs”); has a strong organizational and time-management skills and is a strong team and partnership builder. You are also able to manage change well, and are able to think creatively and “out of the box.”

The successful candidate will have experience working with youth in a variety of contexts and settings, be familiar and comfortable with youth engagement and have knowledge related to alcohol and drug issues. Knowledge of the Delta communities will be an asset.

Please not that this is not a clinical counseling position. As such, youth who require any form of counseling will be referred to appropriate services.

Academic and Job Experience Required:

  • BSW or BA in a related field, plus 1 year related experience working with children and youth.

Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge related to Substance Use Issues
  • Group Work Experience
  • Criminal Records Check
  • Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Use of Own Vehicle with Reimbursement
  • Standard First Aid and CPR
  • Basic Computer Skills

Desired Requirements:

  • Learning Disabilities Training including FASD, ADHD, Early Childhood Education, Special Needs
  • Other certification in Recreation or Arts.

Salary Range: $21.56 – 24.55 per hour ($1,509.54 – $1,718.20 bi-weekly) plus a competitive benefits package including pension
