The position: Full Time, Commercial Insurance Broker
This full-time broker will work within the Commercial Insurance department of an independently owned brokerage, managing, renewing and maintaining commercial accounts. She/he will provide sales and customer service support for new and existing commercial clients in a fast-paced and busy environment. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent customer service skills, be able to work efficiently, independently, and be a team player. The successful candidate will answer directly to the Company principle and will assist in administrative duties as required.
The successful candidate must have:
-excellent problem-solving skills;
-superior customer service skills;
-the ability to manage several time-sensitive tasks at once;
-experience with Microsoft Office and Excel;
-proficient keyboarding skills; and
-a minimum of two years of customer service and/or sales experience.
Preference will be given to those candidates who:
-have experience in the insurance industry, but we are prepared to train the right candidate.
-those with a post secondary education.
Our office hours are Monday – Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The Candidate will be required to work two evenings per week and one Saturday per month. We pay overtime for the Saturday hours. Starting Wage is $ 12.50/Hour.

Plezia Insurance Brokers: is a family owned insurance brokerage, founded in 1982. Our brokerage has 12 employees and is growing. We specialize in auto, home, business and life insurance. We also provide insurance for travel, seasonal properties, rental properties, watercraft, etc. We are proud members of the Insurance Brokers Association of Manitoba and are actively involved in our community. We strive to provide our customers the highest level of customer service in our industry.
Insurance licensing: In order to work as an insurance broker, employees need to be licensed through the Insurance Council of Manitoba. New employees are enrolled in courses to obtain the Level 1 Insurance Brokers License and the Insurance Work Station Certification (Autopac). Most courses are held during office hours but additional preparation is required. The training days are paid by Plezia Insurance, as are the costs of the training sessions. Training for this position will be supported through apprenticeship under one of the company principles and will lead to the opportunity to manage an individual book of business.
Continuing Education: Insurance is an industry that requires continuing education. In order to maintain an Insurance License, employees must obtain a minimum of eight continuing education credits per year. Each year employees must take coursework toward the Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) designation, which is comprised of four courses. Completion of CAIB Courses 1, 2, and 3 provides a Level 2 Insurance Broker Designation which allows for the broker to supervise Level 1 Insurance Brokers. These courses are offered on a independent study basis but there are evening discussion groups that are also available.
