Role: Commodity Manager

Our client is seeking a Commodity Manager who has experience negotiating pricing on multi level agreements. The successful candidate will have a strong background of experience in either Human Resources (HR) commodity manager and/or experience negotiating pricing on Information Technology (IT) hardware (Telecom) along with a good understanding of software. Experience in a global environment would be an asset.
1. Strong knowledge of negotiation practices for HR Services (labour/consulting service/training etc) and or IT areas (Telecom hardware) including Contracts, supplier analysis, selection and pricing strategy
2. Strong knowledge of office applications and data management tools, SAP experience an asset
3. Ability to communicate with others (lower and higher level) to provide explanation and guidance on the procurement process
-Managing projects according to the corporate buying strategy.
-Managing Human Resources (Vendor management/selection) involved in the suppliers’ selection process and negotiate the strategic products category. This role consists of creating multidisciplinary teams and ensures that management of procedures leads to the selection of suppliers offering quality products at the best price.
-Strong knowledge of negotiation practices for IT areas (software OR hardware)
-Strong knowledge of negotiation practices for Human Resources Services (vendor, labour/consulting service/training), including contracts, supplier analysis and selection and pricing strategy
HR Services entail:
Labour: Experienced at negotiating rates & contracts related to direct labor (e.g. consulting firms, placement agencies etc)
Consulting services: Multiple scope of work that consists of:
-Benefits consulting service
-HR consulting services (e.g. vendor to develop a performance management process, etc.)
-Maintain global or regional responsibility for a strategic and/or high dollar commodity or group of commodities in HR, for price/value determination, product and/or service negotiations, terms and conditions.
-Develop and implement a procurement strategy for the HR commodities they manage including competitive, technology direction, supplier analysis, development, selection and pricing strategy.
-Act as primary interface with suppliers for all relationship management, contract negotiation issues, establishing business framework for transactions, performance reviews, business development and supplier awards programs.
-Sources products and services, maintaining a continuity of supply, while delivering the lowest cost component or service solution.
-Provides site direction and performance reporting for cost analysis to senior management.
-Leads negotiations for high impact HR commodities, providing guidance on negotiations strategy and negotiations planning, developing a commodity strategy, and presentations / communication consistent message to suppliers.
-Has frequent interaction and negotiation with senior executives of industry leading multi-national companies involved in HR process (Consulting firms, Placements Agencies, Vendors of Record etc).
-Manages the HR Commodity Negotiation process ensuring accurate forecasting and pricing accuracy.
-Manages data flow for pricing fluctuations in market and analytical tools including development and maintenance of Commodity Management systems applications.
-Conducts strategic analysis on pricing, the market, suppliers, customers, competitors, contracts and long-term agreements.
-May act as site liaison to manage critical shortage, develop strategies on constrained HR commodities and represent site, manage related systems changes that have broad effect on execution of purchasing responsibilities.
-Drives process improvement, development of IT tools for group, defines business processes and implements new tools/ processes.
-Performs HR bid activity for sensitive/highly visible complex bids.
-Education: University Degree is a requirement for this role.
-5 to 8 years of current and related experience in Commodity management with experience in HR Commodity Management OR IT hardware (Telecom) along with a good understanding of software.
-Extensive knowledge of the Human Resource OR IT Software or Hardware marketplace, as well as conditions for a broad range of strategic commodities including industry pricing, technology and supply/demand trends.
-Strong knowledge of basic computer applications and the ability to learn and use multiple applications specific to this department including ERP and office systems.
-Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
-Strong knowledge of negotiation practices / methodology for HR commodities.
