The Personal Support Worker (PSW) employed with ParaMed Health Services provides personal care and/or housekeeping in an individual’s home, a supportive housing site or in an institutional facility. Work performed in a home is typically completed alone where as additional assistance may be available for team transfers in supportive housing, long term care facilities or in hospitals. The PSW is assigned a client base and provides services as directed by the Nursing Supervisor. The types of services provided to each client will vary based on their cognitive and physical capabilities and may be lightly assistive or may be intense with support required for most tasks. PSW is responsible for providing assistance with personal care, emotional support and related health services to clients to maintain the activities of daily living in the home. This may include bathing, toileting, oral care, dressing, feeding, transfer and repositioning; doing laundry, making and changing beds. PSW is responsible for monitoring and reporting changes in client’s behaviour and condition. All activities are conducted within the client care plan and policies, procedures and standards of confidentiality of ParaMed Home Healthcare The duration of a work shift is variable. The PSW is expected to arrange for their own means of travel between worksites and is compensated as applicable.
