Par-Pak (www.ParPak.com) is a designer and manufacturer of rigid plastic packaging with manufacturing facilities located in Canada, USA, and UK.

We are now looking for a qualified candidate to manage Quality assurance for our Plastic Extrusion plant located in Brampton, Ontario. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager.

Purpose:

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, serve as the key resource for the establishment of Quality assurance standards, systems, procedures, and audit controls in order to consistently produce product at a competitive cost to meet and exceed the specifications and expectations of internal and external customers.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and employees to ensure that Quality systems are established and sustained
  • React in a timely manner to customer concerns and liaise with customer representatives to discuss product related queries and concerns
  • Co-ordinate line trials with production to ensure minimal scrap generation and downtime
  • Support new product development and continuous improvement of existing products through effective integration of quality tools into the development and production processes
  • Lead all SRED activities, document product development activities and file annual SRED claims
  • Ensure creation and maintenance of all production and Quality testing records and documentation
  • Ensure tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated and that product modifications are investigated if necessary
  • Set Quality compliance objectives and ensure that targets are achieved
  • Review product test results ensuring the product complies with established standards
  • Supervise technical personnel in carrying out tests, measurements and checks
  • Establish and maintain a QA program for monitoring quality of incoming raw materials, including audits, controls, and other qualifiers
  • Assist in resolving manufacturing problems with non-conforming material
  • Establish product formulations that meet the needs of our customers in a cost effective manner
  • Ensure that the Lab area is maintained properly and free from obstructions and hazards
  • Document and monitor internal and external quality concerns and maintain database for follow-up
  • Identify relevant quality related training needs and opportunities

Education and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelors in Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience is an asset
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing QMS in manufacturing environments
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis with focus on sustainable solutions / corrective actions
  • Experience with Plastic film extrusion and/or sheet extrusion is an asset
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2008 methodologies is preferred
  • Practical experience with Quality testing and control plans
  • Familiar with APQP and SPC concepts both theoretical and practical, CMM equipment and data analysis
  • Able to develop, review, and maintain metrics and quality audits

Other Skills:

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Team player with multi-tasking abilities
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
  • Able to travel
