We look forward to having you work with us as we serve your child(ren) in all aspects of school life.
Welcome to St. Matthew for another exciting school year! Our projected enrolment for this year is 1332 students, with a staff of approximately 110 teachers and support staff.
Following final registrations last week, I am pleased to report that our enrolment has significantly surpassed the Board projection.
We are currently at 1397 students - 403 Grade 7/8 students and 994 high school students. This may result in additional staffing and teaching assignment changes over the next several weeks.
As usual, in any large high school, the first month is a time of orientation for a number of new students to our community, especially for our grade 7 students.
We will do our best to make this transition as smooth as possible. If you are the parents of students new to St. Matthew, please reassure them by reviewing the information provided in the student agenda booklet.
Feel free to contact homeroom teachers, office staff, or the administration for clarification on any matter of concern.
The first several weeks of school is also a time in which minor adjustments may be required to fine- tune the master timetable. To this end, we ask for your patience and understanding during this process.
Staffing and course offerings are set in the spring and are based on enrolment information taken from students' option sheets. However, families move out of, and into, the area in the intervening time period, and some adjustments may be required.
Changes to the administration team at St. Matthew occurred with the retirement of Mrs. Menard last June.
We are very pleased to welcome Mrs. Smith as our newest member of the administrative team. She comes to us with a wealth of experience, having served as Vice-Principal at St. Frances of Assissi and Notre Dame High School.
Mrs. Smith serves as our grade 7 & 8 vice-principal. We welcome Mrs. Smith to the leadership team of St. Matthew and to our school community.
Mrs. L. Desroches, our chaplain, also moved on to retirement. We thank her for her true commitment to our students and the entire community. We wish her special blessings as she continues her life journey into retirement.
We are pleased to welcome our new chaplain, Mrs. M. Dougherty. She comes to us from Sacred Heart High School having served as a chaplain for this community over the past five years. We are very pleased to have Mrs. Dougherty as part of our school community. – less–ZoomInfo
