Energy Management Assistant
Orlick Industries Limited is a leading supplier in the automotive marketplace, providing precision machined aluminum casting.
This position shall assist in identifying, pursuing, and capturing profitable continuous improvement opportunities principally involving energy solutions in new industrial construction and conversion projects.
Focus will be on projects in areas related to facility management, environmental requirements and effective energy management solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting activities concerned with the operation and maintenance of multiple facilities as a liaison with company maintenance and sub-contractor personnel.
This position will be actively involved in the performance of engineering services with a focus on providing cost-effective solutions to engineering challenges in a diverse range of projects from the initial planning stages to design, construction, and commissioning.
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 1 – 5 years working experience.
- Experience with energy conservation programs and concepts.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures and government regulations and guidelines (i.e. Building and Electrical and Fire codes).
Understanding of multidisciplinary coordination of activities through the design and the construction process.
Knowledge of electric motor and controls is an asset.
Intermediate degree of proficiency with AutoCAD.
Previous knowledge or experience with Industrial Environmental legislation and requirements.
Good drafting methods and techniques as it pertains to electrical and mechanical building design layout.
Ability to read engineering drawings and design and interpret floor plan layouts.
Knowledge and experience in lighting, power distribution, and other typical building electrical systems' design and drafting is an asset.
Intermediate proficiency in the use of computer applications including: building controls/automation systems, CMMS systems, word processing (MS Word), spreadsheet (Excel), database management (MS Access), e-mail, and Internet navigation.
Ability to deal with competing priorities and work proactively to see projects through to completion deadlines.
Self-starter capable of demonstrating proficiency in time management when working in a team environment or independently.
Ability to exercise a high level of initiative and responsibility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for assisting in planning, directing, and coordinating construction and production expansion activities for multiple facilities.
Supervise, distribute/assign & monitor work of building technicians and sub-contractors.
Review & monitor company and contractor compliance issues in regards to health and safety, environmental, building structures and electrical systems.
Building site inspections / Audits / Tours and document reporting for capital planning purposes.
Coordinates/facilitates/monitors Capital Repairs completed by internal and external personnel.
Preparation and submission of various audits, operational reports.
Maintain General Facility files and documents (electronic and hard copy), communications, etc.
Assist in scheduling and coordination of construction segments of projects to meet cost and time objectives.
Assist in the review of engineering designs and documentation to ensure compliance with project design criteria and standards.
Document job activities through written reports including maintaining project and work schedules for personnel or project team members.
Assist in permitting process including liaison with and attendance at meetings with suppliers, contractors and various authorities having jurisdiction over the project.
Assist in tracking budget for construction/energy management projects.
Assist in creating the requests for quotation for construction/energy related subcontract.
Provide support in managing aspects of subcontracts ensuring that all related works are undertaken to locate requirements and within safety time cost and quality limits acceptable to regulations and management.
Undertake quality control inspections as necessary of the various construction activities.
Monitor progress of all tasks activities in relation to completion schedule with the various subcontractors and take appropriate actions in the event of any schedule slippages report to project management on an as needed basis.
Preparing engineering sketches and design calculations in accordance with the project requirements.
Report on progress towards objectives to senior management and other company personnel and identify issues that may affect achievement of objectives.
Monitor related technological advancements for process optimization, use of natural gas and alternative energy in various applications, and improved energy efficiency.
