Research Analyst (Permanent Full-Time)
Challenge your research and analysis expertise in this role! The Ontario College of Trades (the College) is seeking a high-performing and detailed Research Analyst to provide research analysis, options and recommendations for regulatory policy making within the College.

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct research, analysis and reporting of:

o Economic and regulatory policy issues
o Evidence based research
o Public interest
o Labour market/sector trends affecting the sustainability and competitiveness
of the trades

  • Design questionnaires and other survey methodologies.
  • Prepare statistical and economic forecasts.
  • Establish and maintain databases.
  • Plan and coordinate the analysis and reporting of demographic information on the

College’s members and Ontario’s trades workforce.

  • Prepare specialized reports and statistical materials for a variety of users such as

senior management, other business departments in the College, external stakeholders
including the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, and the general public.

  • Network and work collaboratively with various partners and public organizations.
  • Provide advice and support to external partners on studies pertaining to trades and


  • Prepare a variety of tools to assist the College in fulfilling its reporting responsibilities.


  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in research methodology and techniques to

determine and implement research methods, including development of questionnaires
and surveys.

  • Knowledge of statistical, economic forecasting and data analysis techniques to

develop statistical economic analysis and scenarios.

  • Strong technical skills including proficiency to establish and maintain databases to

house research and data findings.

  • Knowledge of Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, the College, labour

standards and trade specific regulations.

  • Strong oral and written communications skills to prepare and present research

summaries, reports, etc.

  • Good interpersonal skills to work as member of a team.
  • Ability to perform quantitative and computer-based research and analysis of

demographic and socio-economic data.

  • Proficient in the use, capabilities and operations of various database software

programs (such as MS Access, SPSS, SAS).

  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills to plan and coordinate a

range of concurrent projects and related activities.

  • Ability to interpret and apply knowledge of legislative acts as well as other policies,

directives, guidelines and procedures related to the planning and delivery of services.

  • A post-secondary degree (with courses in statistics, economics, and/or sociology) is

an asset.
