The candidate will be primarily responsible for supporting the manufacture and test of OneChip’s BOSA and transceiver products at our contract manufacturing partners. This support will include being the technical prime for the product within the Operations team, dealing with and solving test and measurement issues, tracking yields and throughput, liaising with the design team in Canada, authorising component changes at the CM, monitoring CM production methods and practices and being OneChip’s “eyes and ears” at the CM. The candidate will also be able to work with equipment vendors to assist in the development of high-volume assembly processes and work with the Operations process engineering team.
In addition, this role will include supporting the sales team with customer visits and enquiries, acting as the first stage in the customer return/RMA process, visiting customers, as required, to help solve technical problems and acting as a contact point between the customer and design teams in defining next-generation products.
Lastly, the candidate will also be responsible for handling minor design changes to products created by customer enquiries. This could include making and approving firmware changes for customer information, fibre length changes, reported data, etc.
The candidate should have experience in the development or manufacture of products under high- volume processes in an optoelectronic, semiconductor or RF SMT environment. Experience in the testing of optical devices, and the test equipment used, is essential.
Priority will be given to candidates who have experience with optical fibre to the home, SDH or DWDM transceivers.
Experience may have been gained at a design company, or at a contract manufacturer.
A B.Sc., B.Appl.Sc., B.Eng. or higher degree in EE, ME, Engineering Physics, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science or a related discipline, along with 3-5 years experience, or relevant training with 5+ years experience is required.
