Omachron Science Inc is a small, dynamic R&D Company located in hampton ontario Canada which develops products and processes in a wide range of areas including consumer electronics, plastics and metals processing equipment, small engines, ATVs, UAVs, watercraft and a wide range of other products and processes.
Brief Summary/Overview of Duties:
The position is responsible for designing, prototyping, testing and troubleshooting scientific instrumentation and control systems using PLCs and/or, micro-controllers. This position involves some electronics board layout and design. This position also requires troubleshooting and maintaining various machinery and facilities electrical systems. The objective for this role is to enable the development of new products and processes and to minimize downtime on subsystems required for research and prototyping. This will be achieved through the application of acquired mechanical/electronics/electrical instrumentation, automation and control skills, implementation of good preventative and predictive maintenance procedures, upgrade aging control systems and urgent response to emergency repair needs of equipment, particularly electrical.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and develop new control and instrumentation systems using PLCs, micro-controllers and the design and prototyping of some custom circuit boards.
Repair equipment and facilities on an emergency basis. Be able to quickly troubleshoot and repair to component level electronic, electrical, automation, mechanical, and hydraulic issues
Perform engineering modifications and project type work, maintenance, operate hand tools and plant service equipment
Help develop and implement preventative maintenance improvements to further reduce unplanned downtime. Attend meetings and training seminars.
Update PLC programs.
Make modifications to equipment, if required, through proper change control process.
Maintain updated records of changes on documents such as manuals, schematics, drawings and make back up PLC and production equipment related software as per SOP and PM etc
Mechatronics or Electrical Science degree or diploma
Minimum 5 years previous related hands on electronics and electro-mechanical experience
Ability to develop and work with with diagrams, schematics and specs
Knowledge of pneumatic controls applied to ventilation and HVAC systems is a major asset
Excellent verbal and written communication skills another major asset
Ability to work with minimal supervision an asset
Strong judgment, problem solving and decision making ability
Current Ontario Industrial Electrical License an asset
CET Certification an asset
Working knowledge of 3D CAD an asset
This full time, 40-44 hour per week position pays $55,000 to $70,000/yr depending on experience and qualifications.
