Working in an innovative, fast paced and expanding natural healthcare focused business that has been in business for over 30 years in Ottawa’s west end. The Front Store Manager, with the support and alignment of the Director of Operations and Director of Communications and HR, will be an outgoing, enthusiastic business focused leader responsible for all aspects of front store operations and ensuring that clients and customers experience superior customer service and health care knowledge. The Front Store Manager will also provide a general overview and assistance for NutriChem’s expansion of our new “Personalized Health Solution Clinics” that include a retail component. As an integral part of our well-known compounding pharmacy, you will be responsible for the management of all operations in conjunction with the store team in relation to all function areas i.e. customer service, merchandising, store operation, marketing, inventory control and sales growth.

Job Description – NutriChem Pharmacy Compounding Lab and Clinic

Title: NutriChem Pharmacy Front Store Manager

Reports to: Director of Operations and Director of Communications & Human Resources

Primarily Based at: NutriChem Pharmacy Compounding Lab and Clinic – 1303 Richmond Road, Ottawa

Duration: Full-Time Permanent Position

Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 6:00pm, Saturday 9am to 5pm (twice a month availability)

Pay: To be negotiated

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
As Manager of NutriChem Pharmacy’s Front Store, your responsibilities include but are not limited to all those outlined below:

  • Ensure the smooth operation of the front store as a whole
  • Overseeing the ordering of appropriate stock assigned to you
  • Assisting in the creation of a consistent vision for the store with respect to all marketing activities (i.e. displays, newspaper advertising, special events, etc.) based on NutriChem’s overall strategic vision and goals
  • Managing and creating schedules for front store staff
  • Creating strong relationships with other departments in the organization as a whole and working together and supporting other NutriChem clinic locations
  • Attend and contribute to marketing meeting and other management meetings
  • Hold bi-weekly staff meetings to address any issues, concerns, new products, processes and anything else to ensure front store is operating smoothly
  • Liaise, prepare and either attend of staff tradeshow booths
  • Ensure that front store is clean, organized and properly stocked
  • Training and motivating new and existing staff
  • Functioning as point of contact for POS system (i.e. for training of new staff, upgrading, troubleshooting and report running)
  • Analysis and proper set up of profit margins for products
  • Functioning as point of contact for external marketing efforts (i.e. newspaper ads, liaising with reps, website development)
  • Analyzing store sales trends and developing strategies to increase sales (meet with management monthly)
  • Consulting with customers and providing information in regard to supplements, herbs and homeopathy as required
  • Special projects that are assigned by NutriChem

Skills and Qualifications Required:

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education in Business Administration, Business Commerce or Science Degree
  • Knowledge and passion for health, and the desire to promote health and wellness through mediums of supplements, herbs, homeopathy, as well as proper nutrition.
  • Minimum two years work experience in retail sales management
  • Excellent verbal and media communication skills
  • Passion and ability to grow front store sales
  • Extraordinary proven leadership capabilities
  • Ability to inspire a diverse team of Health Counselors
  • Ability to create and align vision, or ‘big picture’ for the store with NutriChem strategic vision and values and diligent follow through
  • Ability to give and take direction
  • A desire to innovate and work towards a common goal
  • Open to giving and receiving feedback with a willingness to learn and learn from experiences
  • Ability to manage projects and delegate
  • Excellent decision making and problem solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in an ever changing and evolving environment
  • Computer skills including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Office, PowerPoint
