NovaBioRubber Green Technologies (NOVA) is an innovative company developing rubber-bearing plants in Canada to satisfy growing rubber demand and to solve latex allergy. NOVA is the world leader in the research and development of growing, selection, seed production and processing and marketing of rubber-bearing plants.

Nova is currently looking for a dynamic and creative individual to fill the position of Chief Executive Officer who will be responsible for leading our company to a world-renowned company.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO provides the strategic vision, planning, fundraising and operational leadership to ensure the company's objectives are accomplished. This position will be located in Vancouver, BC, and some travel to the USA and throughout the world will be required. Applicant must have a valid driver's license.

The overarching responsibility of CEO is to manage the organization through all stages of development, R&D and Production. Through direct management of high level business operations, and well qualified professionals in the industry, this position will be responsible for the overall growth of the company.

Principal Roles and Responsibilities:
The mandate of the CEO is to manage the day-to-day operations of Nova and ensure that operations are consistent with the policies developed by the Board of Directors and are carried out in such a way that meets the requirements of the business plan.

The CEO is responsible to the Board. The Board and the CEO work together to develop policies and plans consistent with the mandate as expressed by the Shareholders Agreement.

Develop and implement operational policies, strategic plans, and Annual Operating Plans to guide Nova within the limits prescribed, delegated authority, and the framework of the strategic directions approved by the Board.

Operate Nova within established policies, maintain a regular policy review process, and revise or develop policies for presentation to the Board.

Direct, motivate and maintain a competent, well-trained, flexible and responsive staff capable of meeting current and future needs.

Develop and recommend the overall Nova organizational structure and staffing to the Board
Develop and maintain an annual Board-approved plan for the development and succession management.

Financial, Tax, Risk and Facilities Management –Recommends yearly budget for Board Approval and prudently manage organizations resources withing those budget guidleines according to current laws and regulations.

Merger/ Acquisition/Investment decsions- responsible for negotiations and terms. Assures the company and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in strong, positive image to relevant stake holders. Oversees funraising planning and implementation, including identifying resource requirements, researching funding source, establishing strategies to approach funders, submitting proposals and administrating fundraising records and documentation.
Perform such other duties or activities as required by the Board from time-to-time

Qualifications Required:

To meet the roles and responsibilities of this position, the successful candidate should have some, or all of the following experience:
Experience in a start-up, or producing organization, in the industries of:

  • Agricultural processing, Chemicals engineering or Mechanical engineering
  • Biopolymers and Bioproducts from renewable sources
  • Manufacture and distribution of biopolymers, bioproducts and biochemicals

Multifaceted experience that includes overall business management, coupled with designing and implementing standard practices in manufacturing, production and distribution.A diplomatic demeanour and approach, and the ability to forge strong industry relationships. Excellent people management skills

  • Bachelors or Masters in Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Chemical engineering or related field
  • MBA in International business
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the Agriculture processing or Chemical or Mechanical engineering industry
  • General knowledge of industrial crop production and research methodology
  • Excellent leadership, communication & project management skills
  • Project writing and development skills
