Volunteer Experience
Tutor (Former Employee), Toronto, ON – April 10, 2013
Pros: developed immense patience
Cons: disconnection from the outside world
Tutored students in Math, History (specifically World War 1 and 2) and Life Skills (working with special needs students). Worked with 3 students a day; one before school, one during lunch and another after school. After these responsibilities were fulfilled, I then moved onto the planning of an overnight excursion with the new high school students. – more... This trip consisted of 3 days of activities and workshops, as well as 2 nights which included personal bonding experiences between the students and staff. This helped with making the transition from high school to post-secondary smoother. – less

Internship was a Blessing
Intern (Former Employee), Fairfield, CT – July 22, 2012
Pros: learning experience, good coworkers, free lunch
Cons: unpaid internship, long drive
This internship was at a Catholic High School and it included a lot of teacher/student meeting, paperwork, guidance sessions, and interactions with different groups on campus. I learned a lot about interpersonal communication and about the catholic school environment. I worked in a small office with three guidance counselors and absolutely loved it. – more... Meetings with students were my favorite because they were all so dynamic and fun to get to know. The hardest part was probably scheduling meeting and school functions together so nothing clashed in the school schedule. – less
