Lead, develop and manage a successful operations department including manufacturing, maintenance, warehousing, batching, planning, supply chain and inventory control.

Repairs and Maintenance
o Be a champion for the corporate core values:

o Oversee all aspects of the Operations Department
o Recruit, train and terminate employees within the department as necessary.
o Provide regular staff reviews and develop leadership plans for all level of staff.
o Participate in strategic planning for the company as part of senior management team.
o Establish (as part of the senior management team) and monitor annual, quarterly and monthly departmental objectives in support of corporate goals and objectives.
o Develop and monitor key metrics for the department and direct reports.
- Process/continuous improvement
o Develop and implement Lean and continuous improvement processes
o Initiate and monitor continuous improvement activities, continually looking for opportunities to eliminate waste within the system.
o Oversee facility upgrades.
- Production and capacity planning
o Create and measure efficiency targets within batching, production and warehouse.
o Ensure appropriate staffing levels within operations to meet company forecasts and growth projections.
o Support the department managers in managing the staff of 30+ production, batching and warehouse personnel.
o Recommend and manage the purchase of new equipment used in the production process.
- Supply Chain and inventory control
o Create and implement inventory control programs to increase inventory turns while maintaining/improving customer service levels.
o Participate in the development of the departmental budget.
o Participate in the project costing and Bills of Materials creation.
- Product management for new product launches or product re-launches
o Lead the development of the project task list to ensure on time delivery of product.
o Manage and take ownership of task list and communicate with various departments and individuals to ensure on time completion of tasks.
o Communicate to department managers supporting a culture of accountability for on-time completion of tasks.
o Perform pre-production and pre-batching meetings as well as project autopsy post close identifying strengths and weaknesses in the system and execution of the project.
o Perform and present cost analysis post close identifying actual profitability vs. budget profitability.
- Project management of corporate objectives
o Participate in developing outcome and expectation of project.
o Create and design task lists to support corporate objectives and projects.
o Manage and take ownership of task list to ensure on time completion of project.
- Manage the Standard Business Procedures (SBP’s) and related training matrix.
- Quality Assurance
o Establish and modify quality standards and procedures for operations.

Products manufactured by Norwood can be found in every major retailer in Canada (grocery, drug, mass and prestige) as well as a growing number of chains in the US, including Wal-Mart, CVS, Walgreens, Target, Sephora, and Whole Foods.
We are expecting rapid growth over the next 5 years (over doubling in size) and is looking for an experienced Director of Ops to help manage that growth and contribute as an important member of the senior management team.
