NNEC is non-profit educational organization. Under the direction of the Sioux Lookout District Chiefs, NNEC delivers secondary and post secondary education programs and services for First Nations people. NNEC operates Pelican Falls First Nations High School and Centre, Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School, Wahsa Distance Education Centre, and has offices in Lac Seul (head office), Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay. NNEC welcome applications for the following position:

Financial Controller – Sioux Lookout

The Finance Department provides payroll, accounts payable, collection, cash management, budgeting, financial analysis and planning services to all programs.

The Financial Controller is responsible for the overall design, operations and supervision of financial information, budgeting and cash management systems. Education and education funding are dynamic fields; the Financial Controller interprets Federal education funding policies and assesses the financial impact of First Nation initiatives on NNEC. The Financial Controller anticipates the effects of change and plans financial and/or structural adjustments to ensure that student services are not interrupted during periods of financial transition.

QUALIFICATIONS

A professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA)
or College/University diploma/degree and five years experience in a not for profit organization.
Proven experience with computer systems and with Sage 50 Quantum Accounting software
Proven supervisory experience
Knowledge of labour codes and workplace issues
Fluency in Oji-Cree, Ojibwe or Cree an asset
Must be willing and able to travel
A sensitivity to and understanding of First Nations culture and traditions

LOCATION: Sioux Lookout, Ontario

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience.
