Position Title: Business Development Officer
Title of Immediate Supervisor: General Manager

Background Information:
Founded in 1993, Northeastern Alberta Aboriginal Business Association (NAABA) is a non-profit organization who has been serving the Aboriginal Business Community over 17 years is currently recruiting a motivated, self-starting individual to join their team. NAABA has recently completed an on-line work opportunity system, called NAABA Net. NAABA is also working on a program called Opportunities in Action, which is based upon the concept of NAABA’s Full Members, representing local Aboriginal business, and NAABA’s Associate Members representing local industry, working together; each contributing to the other’s success. Along with setting a standard for quality of service and delivery, a Members’ adherence to NAABA’s Best Practices help to establish relationship between the service provider and client. The seven best practices of the Opportunities in Action are the seven shared responsibilities that guide our Full Members (local Aboriginal businesses) and our Associate Members (our industry partners).

Goals of the Position:

  • Introduce NAABA Net to industry partners and EPC firms, work with these organizations to ensure effective use of NAABA Net
  • Lead the Opportunities in Action initiative, ensure effective communication to all stakeholders
  • Market & encourage participation in NAABA Net and Opportunities in Action program
  • NAABA Net and Opportunities in Action programs are included in contract documents
  • Support NAABA communication plan
  • Provide support for work pertaining to confidential or sensitive matters
  • Liaison with outside organizations and NAABA membership

Qualifications:
Education:

  • 2-year Business Admin Diploma, or related post secondary courses

Skills:

  • Demonstrated high degree of professionalism, discretion, confidentiality and independence
  • Strong listening, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Decision-making skills
  • Flexibility to manage a broad range of complex activities and deadlines
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel within Alberta

Experience:

  • 4-8 years

Salary: Based on experience and qualification
