Contract Type: Contract for $5,000.00 + Completion Bonus

FARMED has received funding support to sponsor an agriculture conference (Ag & Hort Leap) on February 8 & 9, 2014. This 2-day event will provide workshops, keynote speakers, hands-on demonstrations and an evening social for interested participants. The time commitment for this position will be approximately 200 - 250 hours.

The Ag & Hort Leap conference coordination will involve, but is not necessarily limited to, the following activities:

*Build the conference agenda including sourcing of workshop leaders and keynote speakers
*Work with keynote speakers and workshop leaders to facilitate scheduling, equipment requirements, transportation and hospitality
*Develop the conference guide and evaluation
*Research and enlist catering services
*Advertise the event including use of social media
*Coordinate registration of conference delegates
*Organize evening social
*Sign up exhibitors
*Organize door prize donations and presenter’s gifts
*Coordinate volunteers
*Develop Master of Ceremony’s script
*Set up conference venue and work with college to ensure custodial, tech support & AV equipment are in place
*Work with volunteer team to facilitate conference organization and clean up on event days
*Work within budget guidelines in consultation with Ag & Hort Leap Committee Chair
*Develop a conference evaluation report
*Work with and report to Ag & Hort Leap Committee throughout the term of this position.
*Write and deliver final report to the Quesnel Ag. and Hort. Leap committee (includes financial and anecdotal)

*Completed Grade 12
*Must be energetic, outgoing and take initiative within a team environment
*Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
*Ability to work under pressure with a calm customer-focused manner
*Past experience with, and solid understanding, of organizing conferences would be an asset
*Must have effective time management and organization skills; be detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks/projects
*Be able to use most commonly used software, Internet and e-mail systems
*Make cold calls in person or over the phone
