Reporting to the Associate Executive Director the Manager of Community Programs engages in the supervision, management and direction of Community-Based Services of all departments involved in Early Years and Youth Programs, including all Child Care programs, Head Start programs, the Early Years Centre, Youth Centre and Transition Houses. It is the responsibility of the Manager of Community Programs to ensure the development and maintenance of services and to resolve any issues promptly. The manager leads the supervisory team in developing and maintaining effective systems and communication strategies with other program areas and internal divisions as well as community stakeholders. The manager is accountable for the development of service goals and evaluation of the goals to be attained; ensuring programs are designed, implemented and operated in a manner consistent with the agency’s cultural base, its agreements with funders and its accountability structures.
The successful applicant will have a BSW/MSW or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years direct experience in a supervisory/management position in a social service environment. You will have exceptional supervisory and leadership skills and excellent working knowledge of the theory and practise in human services delivery and program planning. You will have a high level of knowledge/literacy of Aboriginal, Inuit and Metis traditions and cultures and will have an in-depth understanding of native specific children’s and youth services. You will also have knowledge of the OHSA, FIPPA, WHMIS and the Day Nurseries Act. In addition, you must pass a police records check.
