NRC is looking for an experienced Refrigeration Mechanic who wants to put their problem solving skills to work on maintaining and repairing equipment and facilities for our research labs in the Ottawa area. Our Refrigeration Mechanics typically work a 37.5 hour work week with only the occasional need for overtime – but no shift work, and no regularly scheduled weekends. Working at NRC provides our Refrigeration Mechanics with the opportunity to work with unique facilities which include industrial, commercial, residential, specialized and scientific equipment. Our Refrigeration Mechanics provide repair, maintenance and installation services for a variety of equipment and building systems in Zone buildings, including:
- Refrigeration systems
- Energy management systems
- Instrumentation and control systems
The Refrigeration Mechanic’s maintenance activities are carried out in response to emergency situations, malfunctions and as part of regular preventative maintenance programs. He/she is responsible for equipment and control systems during emergency call-ins, scheduled overtime and power shutdowns. He/she must comply with and maintain government refrigerant regulations and records.
Secondary School Diploma according to provincial standards.
Valid Ontario OR Inter-provincial Journeymen’s Certificate of Qualification in the refrigeration and air conditioning trade.
Ozone depletion certificate.
Experience in industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems
Experience in building automation systems.
Experience in building heating systems is an asset.
