The Opportunity:

National Recycling Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant who will play an instrumental role in the financial growth and development of the company. Reporting directly to the VP, Corporate Finance, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for the compilation and preparation of all quarterly and annual financial statements to support the Company’s business strategies as it relates to financial controls, documents and reports.

Job Details

  • Prepare and ensure timely, accurate, and useful financial and management reporting
  • Analyze, review, prepare and compile financial statements for formal submission and review by the VP, Corporate Finance for month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial statements and reports
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted Accounting policies and procedures
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close processes
  • Posting of daily bank transactions and preparation of monthly bank reconciliations and other balance sheet schedules
  • Prepare and submit HST, and WSIB
  • Support in the preparation for annual financial and other audits
  • Analyze and resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
  • Manage and review all month-end closing activities
  • Oversee accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
  • Adaptable and flexible in performing other accounting related duties as required to accommodate changing business needs and work requirements

Position Requirements:

  • College or university diploma/degree in Finance / Accounting with requisite CGA or CMA accounting designation
  • 5+ years of financial experience
  • 3+ years of experience with QuickBooks
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications
  • Excellent command of the English language (both verbal and written)
  • Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills
  • Ability to easily interact with individuals throughout all levels of the organization
  • Possesses strong problem solving skills and process improvement techniques
  • Ability to multi-task and flexible to handle multiple changes in focus throughout the day
  • Able to adapt to changes and new information
  • Professional, reliable, and committed
  • Self-starter, highly motivated with ability to take initiative
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
