Great summer work
Vehicle Detailer (Former Employee), Hamilton, ONNovember 25, 2013
Pros: working with different cars
Cons: lack of organization
A typical day consisted of preparing and detailing rental vehicles for customer use. Along with that checking cars in and out of the Hamilton airport. Management was unorganized at times and some senior co-workers displayed poor attitudes. Hardest part of the job was working solo sometimes and balancing the demand for out going cars and checking in – more... cars. Thoroughly enjoy driving and thus enjoyed working with the different vehicles. – less

Shuttle Driver/Customer Service (Current Employee), Vancouver, BCOctober 14, 2013
Pros: the team, work flexibility and benefits when working overtime.
I have been working here since June 2011 and I have had a great time. I am still currently working for this company. I enjoy working with everyone in this company from coworkers to management. All my managers are easily approachable if I have any questions or concerns.

My days are very busy and the shift times varies. Sometimes I get called in 5AM – more... and sometimes I have had to work until 1 AM during busy times. They are 8 hour shifts but I work overtime if requested by management.

My typical days are moving rental vehicles to their required stations. And there has been times hen I have moved 100 cars or even more when it is busy. I have to check all vehicles for any damage, cleanliness and follow all guidelines. – less

Good pay and great people to work with.
Rental Sales Agent (Former Employee), Richmond, BCMay 11, 2012
Pros: colleagues
Cons: managers and them bigots
I really enjoyed my time working for this company because of the great people that I've met during my time employed. Its a pretty big car rental location located at the airport with maybe about 100 employees onsite from the rental agents, shuttlers, to the cleaners, and washers. Excellent people to work with but a very challenging environment to be – more... in. During my time working there I've acquired a lot of knowledge about dealing with people in all sorts of situation. Yah the work is pretty typical but the stress of dealing with tired, cranky, and the list goes on and on and on, can make a simple transaction into an extremely difficult situation sometimes. Through the opportunity from the lady that hired me and trained me and stood by me to help me, I've had the opportunity of a life-time to be able to develope an unkeen sense of patience and flexibility with people that I had never had before. I would like to thank that person for that opportunity she gave me. Little did she knew that she changed my life in a lot more ways than she'd realized. However, this corportation has been in restructuring mode for the past 10 years now and not for the better for us workers. We are unionized, "they" don't want to have anything to do with unions. Nuff said. Too bad that this is where its heading, but otherwise it was a great and enjoyable experience working there because of the "individuals" that are the real people running the company and not the bigots sitting in the back office thinking they've got everything figured out. – less

Just full of pipe dreams with no intentions of fulfilling them
Rental Agent (Former Employee), Jackson Medgar Wiley Evers International AirportSeptember 8, 2014
The management was lazy and would avoid customers at great lengths. Upper management would promise dreams of advancement and then excuses for the lack of opportunity. Until they get the management under control at this particular location, I do not recommend working there. Many times I was left as the ONLY person working for all positions. It was unprofessional – more... and unacceptable. – less

A liability
Service Agent (Current Employee), Sacramento, CAAugust 20, 2014
Pros: joking with open minded co-workers
Cons: sewers look cleaner than where you eat
Required to work extremely hard for very low pay with an insulting bonus pay almost equivalent to 10 percent of an hour pay. Ridiculous standards to reach top bonus pay. Co-Workers not doing their fair share of the overall load of the day. Cheating and lazy co-workers leave hardest and dirtiest cars for honest workers to clean leaving them to face criticize – more... comments by management. Most the time equipment not working or sub par working. Extreme exposure to the elements that could lead to illness. Paid sick leave is a joke, better off working with an injury rather than nursing it to health. Exposure to hazardous wastes. Car wash circuit is vulnerable to water. Break rooms are beyond gross. Some female employees seek to cause trouble for co workers that could/would lead to termination if not lawsuits. Most busy days management is not around to assist. Management doesn't communicate with employees, or leave someone responsible with access to equipment. Hardest days are when overwhelmed with full lot of cars and no where to park clean or dirty cars; cramp work stations and narrow car wash. When men and women don't interact with each other on below average of the time work goes by more successful but less fun. When men interact with men work is fun and successful, and goes by faster making that enjoyable. – less

Rental Sales Agent (Current Employee), Romulus MIAugust 15, 2014
Pros: great employess.
Cons: lack of proper management.
The company definitely needs new management and structure. The job itself is a great job and I'm learning something new everyday but at the same time I'm being self-taught appose to the proper training used to grow in the company. The job is inconsistent in their work rules, they are unorganized, the negative energy presented on a daily, and they hire – more... managers that are not aware of how the company is run. It needs help. – less

Working at National Care Rental/Alamo Rent a Car was fun and enjoyable. My co-workers and managers were very helpful, caring and encouraging. I learned how to be patience, listen and to stay calm. I loved working at the call center just because I was able to help, educate and inform customers of their rental agreement. I loved every minute of the day – more... working at the call the center. If I had a chance to do it all over again, I would. – less
