The Nisga’a Lisims Government is currently seeking an Accounting Manager that will welcome a variety of responsibilities and opportunities to assist in the growth of the organization and contribute positively to strategic, financial and tactical planning.

The Candidate:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer the successful candidate will maintain and administer the government’s accounting systems , ensuring they are within the fiscal authority guidelines and in accordance with general accepted accounting principles. Managing the full accounting cycle functions and provide day to day supervision of Accounting Department staff, the Accounting Manager will provide financial leadership to all cost centres within NLG and other not-for-profit and commercial entities. With a track record of success in a senior accounting role combined with an ability to work collaboratively and lead a team, the Accounting Manager will possess the following key requirements:

-A post secondary degree in Business Administration, Commerce or other relevant degree combined with an accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA) and at least 2 years of experience in a senior accounting position or an equivalent combination of both education and experience;
-Strong working knowledge and proficiency in accounting principles including; budgeting, financial reporting, liaising with auditors in creating annual reports, fund accounting, investment management, analyses, developing and implementing financial controls, policies, procedures and best practices;
-Advanced proficiency in computer accounting software, preferably AccPac;
-Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong negotiation and ability to work closely with both internal and external stakeholders;
-Strong organizational and supervisory skills with experience training and mentoring staff;
-Knowledge of federal funding agreement and the NLG culture is a definite asset; and
-Willing and able to relocate to the New Aiyansh/Terrace B.C. area.
