Position Profile:

We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Corporate Controller. The Corporate Controller is a senior member of the finance team with daily responsibilities related to the accounting, financial reporting and treasury functions of the Company. In addition, the Corporate Controller is a key part of our senior management team and works closely with operations on issues that impact the Company, both day-to-day activities but also the strategic direction of each individual branch and the Company. The Corporate Controller will continue to develop the finance team by contributing strong leadership, financial accounting and management skills in a busy and fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

o Responsible for all accounting procedures and functions, internal controls and accounting records
o Directing and coordinating company financial planning and budget management functions;
o Monitoring and analyzing monthly operating results against budget and prior year;
o Directing and coordinating debt financing and debt service payments with external agencies;
o Overseeing daily operations of the finance department;
o Managing the preparation of the Company’s financial reports and financial statements, including financial outlooks and reports such as equipment utilization reports.
o Preparing financial analyses for contract negotiations and equipment investment decisions;
o Working with department managers and staff to develop business plans, goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures;
o Directing and managing all financial audits and providing recommendations for procedural improvements;
o Managing the treasury functions of the Company. This would include, but is not limited to:
o ABL-related requirements as well as liaising with the admin/collateral agents of the ABL
o Cash forecasting and liquidity analysis
o Assist with management of cash flow, including review and signing of payable cheques, credit cards and expense reports
o Assist with various corporate programs such as insuranc
o Foreign currency purchases and transactions

o Responsible for the insurance program and other related risk management initiatives
o Foster new accounting / payroll procedures to streamline processes where possible
o Perform related tasks and duties as requested by the VP Finace such as assisting with acquisitions, major capital expenditures and internal controls
o Random audits of work and source documentation to ensure controls and processes are working as expected.
o Supervision of direct and indirect reports, including quarterly meetings and formal annual performance evaluations
o Take appropriate personnel related action (i.e., hire, commend, discipline, evaluate) with accounting staff as required
o Must be able to deputize on behalf of the VP Finance in her absence



o University degree with a professional accounting designation

Experience Required

o 7 plus years of experience in a senior finance function, including at least three years of supervisory experience in a similar role


o Comprehensive understanding of accounting standards, specifically Canadian ASPE
o Established management and leadership skills, including the ability to lead, mentor and develop operational and corporate staff
o Detail-oriented, proactive, self-starter with strong organizational and analytical skills
o Well organized with excellent time management skills and the flexibility to work the hours required to get the job during peak times
o Strong technical skills and knowledge
