My typical day at work at Mr. Rooter consisted of booking clients for appointments and ensuring that the plumbers would arrive on time. I worked with about 8-10 plumbers at a given time so I had to ensure that every appointment was assigned to each plumber. I have learned and gained a lot of office experience from working there. I have learned HR, payroll, – more... filling out worker's claims and sending them off to worker's, I have completed T4's for 2 consecutive years there, and have learned the everyday office duties such as filing, faxing, email, etc. the most enjoyable part of that job was the people I have worked with. Customer service skills needed to perform all aspects of this job. Need to be able to multi-task while answering the phones and inputting data into the computer data base. Payroll deadline was the hardest part of this job and be able to financially balance all reports. Entering customer information in the computer program to set up plumbing appointments, Dispatching, Invoicing. How plumbing works and what needs to be done in fixing problems. Management and Co-Workers were all nice to work with. Not like be the only person answering phone.

Overall great place to work! My only reason for leaving was that the cost of benefits was more than I could afford. The company is a franchise location run and owned by a husband wife team who really wanted to deliver quality and service to their customers and it showed. The average work day began with a drive into the office to stock up on supplies – more... and recieve the first assignment of the day from dispatch. A day could be just one lengthy job or several short jobs. The number of jobs you do for the day depends first, on the number of calls for service coming in and second, the time you spend working on any particular job and third, the time you spend commuting from one job to another. And being a commision based job its as profitable as you make it. As the Service Tech I know from expirience what needs to be done to fix a problem right and give the customer the best results and yes it is usually the more expensive of the options available. So you have to be a bit of a salesman and educate the customer of the benefits of the work you recomend so that they can be confident in the decision they make and in the work being performed. – less

Mr. Rooter was a great place to work!! I enjoyed my co-workers, I was trained in many different areas within the company, and the hours for office staff were very reasonable. This was one of my favorite places to work!
