store manager (Current Employee), Traverse City, MIAugust 17, 2012
Pros: good compensation
Cons: they appreciate you until they don't
Motherhood Maternity is an excellent place to work for a strong individual looking to advance in the retail business. The stress can get a little high if sales are down or you do not have the right team working for you.

Store Manager (Former Employee), Stockton, CAAugust 10, 2012
Pros: great staff, playful and full of happy moments
Cons: understaffed, small store and hard return policy
As an Store Manager for Motherhood Maternity, I learned that being a manger was about trust and dedication. I loved my job daily with my employees and customers. I felt the District Manager was not very helpful in my training or success. I would have loved to stay with Motherhood Maternity, as I am a mom, it made work something I loved and enjoyed in – more... one place. – less

Business that was goal oriented and a chance to be yourself.
Store Manager (Former Employee), Tamuning, GUJuly 18, 2012
Pros: interacting with people, learning new things everyday
Working at Motherhood Maternity was an experience that will be with me always. Being the Store manager definitely had its challenges, however, the challenges were never to difficult to overcome. Favorite part of the day is meeting new people, establishing a relationship with them, and having them become frequent clients of the store. My staff, like – more... myself, was well rounded and outgoing. We really enjoyed what we were doing which made each work day fun and successful. Unfortunately, the company decided to close the store because of how far the Guam store is from all other locations. – less

I love meeting new people and it was always a good day there were some bad and irritated days and some wonderful days. My co-workers thy were good to get a long with and also the managers. The hardest part was working by yourself and doing the totes before a deadline.

Great place to work... not a lot of patience
Cashier (Current Employee), Lee's Summit, MOJune 30, 2012
Pros: getting to help people, comfortable enviroment.
I love working at Motherhood. The people are friendly and I love helping people. It's great. The problem is, the manager I have doesn't have a whole lot of patience with me. I had only been working for about 2 weeks when I was told that I wasn't strong enough to hold the store on my own and got my hours cut to next to nothing. I personally don't think – more... I was given enough of a chance to prove myself. – less

Sales Representative (Former Employee), Cheektowaga, NYJune 9, 2012
Pros: fun, small store and gives staff responsibility
Cons: pay, part-time, small staff
Working for Motherhood Maternity was very enlightening to me. Especially because I was very young. I learned a lot about a pregnant woman's needs, wants and desires. My manager was very polite and always easy to talk to. There was only 4 employee's in the store, including the manager. The hardest part about the job for me was working alone at night. – more... I was young and scared easily. The most enjoyable part was getting to know the customers and seeing them pre and post baby. – less

The Experience
Part-Time Sales Associate (Former Employee), Wauwatosa, WIJune 3, 2012
Working at Motherhood Maternity was an experience i was pretty familiar with. I had prior experience pertaining to customers. A typical day at work for me was very smooth. This leased business was specifically for women who were expecting. They would come in and hope to find new clothes that would make them feel comfortable as well as sexy at the same – more... time. As i would begin my shift, I would open the store and register if I was scheduled to open the store in the morning. I learned a lot of things about women and how much their body changes while pregnant. The management was ok, but personally, I thought there was favoritism. a co-worker of mine i believe had another job, and was going to school while also working at motherhood. It would seem that she would get more hours than i when we both were working part time, and while I only had that job, with no other priorities. But, I didn't complain. I always roll with it. The hardest part of the job was remembering specific sizes and the bra measuring would always get me confused. But the most enjoyable part of the job while working at Motherhood, was the customers I sent out that door with a smile on their face when they feel they've made the right choice. – less

Bad staffing issues but otherwise great!
Sales Associate and Cashier (Former Employee), Florence, KYApril 25, 2012
Had a good time working for this company. I really enjoyed meeting all the customers and assisting them. The only issue I had with the job was severe under staffing during the busiest times of the day and the busiest seasons.

An ok company if you are fulltime unless you need part time and it still not worth it.
Store Manager/ Supervisor (Former Employee), Southaven, MSApril 13, 2012
Pros: small business
Cons: reconition
Motherhood was 1 of my favorite jobs. On typical work day you are always working by yourself until the next person's shift. But there will be some days that your shift might overlap 30 minutes til an hour with someone else shift. The business through the weekday is very slow, but on Fridays and Saturday you will see the most customers coming from all – more... over the world. What I learned from them is never let your guard down and dont let people take your kindness for weekness. I also learned from them is to never let a company use you for your skills. Motherhood Maternity has given me a totally different feeling on the work industry. The way that company treated me I can really understand why it so so hard to receive a good successful job no matter what skills you have. The store mangers the ones I worked with hated there jobs because the way corparate ran there business. Long story short the store, district, and region managers takes care of Motherhood Maternity. As far as my co-workers they were great accept for the onses that always had personal issues at home or who wanted to take from the company. The terms that I was at Motherhood wasn't so hard until I had to run 4 different location per week and it interfered with my childs education. Also when the company used me the last year I was there. My most enjoyable part of my job was working with customers and knowing I'm making a living for me and my child. – less

Assistant Manager (Former Employee), Altoona, PAApril 10, 2012
Pros: customer interaction
Cons: no advancement, maxed out payscale
-typical day- creating wardrobes for mothers-to-be in a pregnancy friendly atmosphere
-management was amazing, and very informative, I learned so much
-co-workers were friendly and fun to be around
-hardest part-pregnancy hormones, some of the customers were very moody and hateful. It was a learning experience
-most enjoyable- working individually with – more... the customers to create a new wardrobe – less

Fun dressing pregnant and making them feel beautiful
MANAGER (Former Employee), Kahului, HIMarch 16, 2012
Pros: personally rewarding
Cons: minimal hours & large load on managers
I really enjoyed making pregnant girls feel beautiful and used my excellent customer service skills to retain loyal customers. It was a very fulfilling job. Floor sets taught me skills to merchandise and problem solve. Stock receiving and inventory rotation was a considerable challenge at time considering the store being a one on one store.

Loved my manager and the work environment.. absolutely couldnt handle my district manager
sales associate/key holder (Former Employee), Lexington KyFebruary 7, 2012
Pros: great work environment
Cons: you work by yourself mainly, you dont get the breaks ppose to get legally.
The hiring process was simple. I loved my manager and asst manager. My district manager was overbearing and overly in your face constantly even though we were making our goal and hitting our individual goals. At the end of everything my manager ended up taking another job and leaving me working 40hrs a week at 8.25 an hr. With no benefits. Also if you – more... recruit employees your suppose to get a bonus and I recruited two. I never got my bonus. – less
