The Group: The Corporate team unites a variety of functions at Morningstar including design, marketing, finance, quality, human resources, corporate communications, legal, compliance, strategic planning, and technology with the goal of keeping our business running smoothly. Each of these functions plays an essential role in supporting our company’s infrastructure, day-to-day operations, and ongoing strategic initiatives.
The Role: The Translation team works closely with all groups across Morningstar’s Canada operation to translate products, documents and editorial content in both official languages. The primary function of the Translation Specialist is to help ensure superior writing quality and optimum delivery time for the French version of all our company’s products. The Translation Specialist will strive to establish a positive, supportive and motivating work environment within the Translation Team. The Translation Specialist will also be responsible for enhancing the optimal operational flow of the team, balancing the business requirements of the company and providing quality and timely translation services. This is currently a contract full time contract for a period of approximately 6 months.
+ Translate feature articles, analyst reports, educational materials, news releases and other features or documents related to the mutual fund and equity markets for our website.
+ Translate various captions and help files for our desktop and web-based software, as well as monthly announcements related to those products.
+ Isolate, identify, resolve, and log quality assurance issues.
+ Proofread and revise other translators’ work to ensure superior quality.
+ Bachelor’s degree in either business or in a language-related field (may include post-graduate education or training).
+ Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a field related to the financial industry.
+ Full fluency in English is required and a superior grasp of the French language is essential both verbal and written.
+ Must have demonstrated superior writing skills.
+ Degree from a French-speaking university considered an asset.
+ Familiarity with an electronic translation tool (LogiTerm) considered an asset.
+ Willingness to commit to a contract position for at least 6 months’ time
