My first job in the chemical industry, high paying job locally.
QC/QA Laboratory Technician (Former Employee), Canlubang, Laguna, Philippines – June 28, 2012
Pros: free snacks, tea and coffee during break hours and free lunch packs during overtimes.
Cons: hr and personnel office was located out of the country ( singapore).
Sample and standard preparations needed in QC/QA work. Review material balance for production batches to be forwarded to production line/give go signal for bagging and bottling as products meets the company's stringent specifications.

Teamwork.

Management has been supportive of the QC/QA laboratory staff.

Coworkers came from different regions of – more... the country.

The hardest part of the job are doing production batches reworked and answering/working on consumers complaints.

Most enjoyable parts of the job were the camaraderie after office hours, and other sports activities sponsored by the company. – less

Monsanto
Lab Technician (Former Employee), Monsanto – June 26, 2012
Pros: nice people, easy job
Cons: long hours, very disorganized
Working for Monsanto started out good, I knew that I would only be there for the duration of my contract. The compensation was not the best, and the hours were very long. Average work week was about 50 - 60 hours per week. Management was very nice but also very unproductive and not very organized, leading the project to take longer than expected.

Lab technician (Former Employee), Waterman, IL – June 21, 2012
I was a lab technician at Monsanto in Waterman, IL. Monsanto is a big company that isn't located only in Waterman. It is all over Illinois. It was fun to work with really nice people. I learned a lot about safety and people. I planted seeds in Herb lab. My supervisor taught me a lot. There was no hard work in there. I am a very quick learner and I am – more... willing to learn everything at a new job. I had to leave this place because I moved out to another city. I liked everything about that job except some people. – less

Productive and fun workplace with a family friendly enviroment
Engineer Technician (Former Employee), Ankeny, IA – May 29, 2012
Pros: company lunches, and there thanks program
Cons: no dental, contract, no holiday pay
A typical day
Get into work in the morning check mail to see if there was any problems/issues that stopped production. If so do necessary steps to resolve the problem. After issues are resolved walk around to the different areas and check to make sure everything is in working order. If not take necessary steps to resolve. After making sure the labs – more... are up and running do my daily saftey rounds and make sure everything is in order. When completed Continue work on my projects assigned to me and fix issues in the labs when they come up as Production Is my number 1 priority.

What I learned
I gained alot of experience using shop tools such as Bridgeport mill, bandsaw, and lathe to name a few.
Reading electrical diagrams, running wires to make them aesthetically pleasing, using ferrules, and Wago cards
Using pneumatics, Air cylinders and SMC equippment

Management
Very helpful and always willing to give you a hand, and pushed you to do your best

Co workers
As with management, always willing to give you a hand and share there knowledge, and help with whatever is needed

Hardest part of the job
Some days there is so much that comes up all at once its hard to get everything done that needs to be done.

Most enjoyable part of the job
Being productive working in and upbeat partners with co workers that have become friends – less

Office Administrator Temp (Former Employee), Creve Coeur, MO – April 24, 2012
Pros: good days off with compensation
Cons: hard to become a perm employee
A day at Monsanto typically starts with contacting a lot of companies who you gain a relationship with on a day to day basis. The good thing is that you have the same contact people on a regular. I learned the ends and outs of the company on the import/export side. The management is typically laid back and approachable. They are hard working people – more... who expect nothing less than that in return from their employees. There was no hard part. The enjoyable part of the job was working with friendly people that felt like family. – less

At Monsanto I was able to employ many of the skills I brought from my business. I received recognition for mastery of 16 skill sets and was working on 6 more, that would have put me in position for a Tech 4.

Not a good place to work.
hourly worker (Former Employee), Farmer City, IL – February 24, 2012
Pros: it is better than having no job at all.
Cons: average person working there receives no respect.
Company's focus is on making money. If site produces well, the site manager has complete control over everything. There is no oversight, even if the company has knowledge of his actions and behavior. There have been serious abuses but nothing will be done because money is made.
