Our Client manufactures and supplies a broad range of steel and plastic strapping, hand tools, edge protection, stretch film equipment and consumable, as well as standard and custom engineered unitizing equipment. Their engineering and sales expertise takes customers' unitizing requirements, from the initial concept, into advanced CAD design engineering, through to fabrication and installation.

They are currently recruiting an Electrical Engineering Manager for a hands-on role requiring an almost equal amount of time spent on the shop floor and in the engineering office. The position requires the individual to manage the department both from the technical and personnel perspective. Costing, budgeting and scheduling of resources along with adherence to the budget are major parts of the role. Meeting and talking to customers is a critical component of the job. This position has a heavy focus on developing and maintaining customer relationships by working closely with the sales teams as well as the service team, as they also depend heavily on the assistance and cooperation of the Engineering Department. This assistance often requires on site work and equipment commissioning, with travel internationally as well as to the U.S.


Provide technical assistance to installation crews
Create Design and Program “Templates” for standard machines and options
Work with Technical Vendors to explore latest available technology to be applied to Equipment, which contributes to cost, performance, and quality improvements
Work closely with Mechanical Engineering, to ensure smooth progression of Electrical design
Maintain “Continuous Improvement” process of entire Design/Program/Test functions
Provide cost estimates to sales department. Cost estimate covers engineering, materials, shop labour, and equipment commissioning


Electrical Engineering degree from a Canadian university or equivalent
Must have a minimum 10 -15 years of Canadian or North American work experience in the Electrical Engineering field
Complete knowledge and understanding of North American Electrical Codes and Machine Safety Regulations
Knowledge of Industrially Accepted Design and Programming Standards
Experience providing cost estimates
Computer Skills: the complete Microsoft Office suite, and working knowledge of AutoCAD
Excellent organization skills and ability to multi task
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to travel anywhere in the world- International & North American Travel 3-4 time per year
Experience supervising and mentoring junior staff
Preference will be given to candidates with a production machinery and engineering background
