Full-Time Director of Operations (based out of either Edmonton, AB or Toronto, ON)
Summary of Position

Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to all Branch Managers and employees within Canada. Drive consistent processes and operational excellence in the field. Enable the District to achieve productivity, service, safety, revenue, quality and earnings goals.

The Director of Operations reports into the Vice President, Operations

Essential Responsibilities:

1. District P&L and forecasting responsibility
2. Provide operations support and functional expertise in assigned District
3. Team with branch Operations Management to maximize branch cost productivity through reviews of key operational processes, development of improvement plans, performance monitoring, and use of metrics to gauge success
4. Establish standard operating procedures and consistency in fleet maintenance, repairs, and service related rebilling
5. Assist in the development of activity based cost tables for each location that support standard scopes of work
6. Improve District vendor management by broadening the vendor base, employing effective negotiation strategies, and driving adherence to ModSpace quality standards
7. Support the execution of sourcing initiatives, vendor programs, key supplier relationships, and cost out initiatives in conjunction with ModSpace Corporate contacts in Sourcing, Operations, and Finance
8. Provide leadership and guidance to the District related to key asset management strategies: reconfiguration, capex-refurbishment execution, certified remanufactured buildings, disposal & redeployment
9. Drive the evaluation of asset condition and coding (FMI 1-6)
10. Evaluate and improve district performance through Operations Dashboard measures, i.e. asset information accuracy (specs, floor plans, etc), billing system and MSmart processes
11. Assist sales leadership in deal review, deal structure, and asset strategies as needed
12. Manage off-line schedules with manufacturers for new stock equipment, and assist Operations Managers with New Product Introductions
13. Drive fulfillment of customer service through training and leveraging system capabilites (i.e. Service Case Metrics)
14. Assist sales leaders within the District to develop appropriate ModSpace business strategies and drive tactical execution for region to achieve business plan
15. Provide coaching and operational training.
16. Ownership of performance improvement plans derived from operational audits for low performing branches
17. Drive National initiatives impacting branch/business success for respective region
18. Other duties as assigned


1. Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Management, or Marketing or equivalent of 10+ years Operations, Sales, or Finance experience
2. Minimum of 5 years of P&L management experience
3. Demonstrated Asset & Operations management skills
4. Ability to distill strategies to implementable tactics
5. Ability to make balanced business decisions
6. Demonstrated ability to provide proactive, positive coaching and development
7. Process oriented with the ability to leverage quality resources to resolve issues
8. Computer and IT system proficient with ability to use technology as an enabler
9. Track record in delivering results
10. Excellent verbal/written communication skills
11. Ability to travel up to 80%

Preferred Requirements:

1. Experience managing geographically dispersed areas preferred
2. Previous commercial experience or commercial teamwork desired
3. Modular industry experience preferred
4. Managerial or matrix management experience desired
