Millarville Racing & Agricultural Society (MRAS) is a not for profit society that has played an important role in bringing our local, rural community together for more than a century. We host a number of family-oriented annual events - the seasonal Millarville Farmers Market, the annual “Run to the Farmer’s Market Half Marathon”, the annual Millarville Races on Canada Day, the annual Millarville Rodeo and the mid-August Priddis & Millarville Fair. Our facilities are used by numerous groups such as 4H, Pony Club and Sheep Creek Weavers and for events such as riding camps and schools, location filming, and wedding receptions. MRAS seeks a highly motivated, community focussed, team player for the role of Operations Manager. This is a challenging yet rewarding position for a highly organized self-starter who thrives on working with people. The position is full time but hours vary seasonally; the ability to work Saturdays throughout the summer is a necessity. The Operations Manager reports to the President of the Board of Directors of the MRAS.

Job description:
− Responsible for efficient operations of the MRAS while ensuring that policy and procedures approved by the Board of Directors are implemented and adhered to; make recommendations to the Board of Directors for new or changes to existing policies and procedures that support the efficient operation of the Society,
− Oversee the implementation of a fundraising program that encompasses sponsorships, grants, planned giving and sustainment initiatives,
− Develop an annual budget for approval by the Board of Directors, monitor and report monthly on financial and operating status,
− Maintain an inventory of MRAS property and ensure adequate insurance coverage of same,
− Responsible for recruitment, hiring, staffing and supervision of staff, including performance evaluations and staff development,
− Build collaborative relationships with event committees and customer oriented service to MRAS members and guests,
− Responsible for complete and timely reports required by funding sources or the Board of Directors.

The following qualifications are required:
- Proven track record for excellence in customer service,
- Experience in fundraising, attracting corporate sponsorships and grants,
- Experience in budget preparation and delivering cost savings measures,
- Experience in large event organization including liquor and cash handling,
- Office or staff management experience required with proven ability to lead a team,
- Ability to understand and supervise facility maintenance and facility operations,
- Willingness to be flexible with the hours the job requires,
- Previous experience in an agricultural or not for profit society is considered beneficial but is not essential.
