Young Adult Team
The Middlesex-London Health Unit has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Public Health Nurse on the Young Adult Team, within Family Health Services with French Language oral and written skills at the intermediate level. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with communities, groups, families and individuals to enable them to enhance their health and prevent disease. A major emphasis involves partnering with school communities and boards of education to offer comprehensive health promotion programs and services to youth. Comprehensive School Health (CSH) or Healthy Schools is a multifaceted approach that emphasises the creation of dynamic, collaborative partnerships among children and youth, parents, teachers, principals, school councils and community agencies concerned with the health and learning of children. Partnerships and healthy policies are integral within this health promotion approach.
Requirements for this position include current CNO registration as a Registered Nurse and a Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited nursing program. Candidates will have excellent presentation and interpersonal skills as well as good computer skills in the areas of documentation, MS Office and database software. A valid Ontario driver’s licence and own reliable transportation are required. Preference will be given to those with experience working with population based health promotion programming and youth engagement skills, as well as the ability to understand and relate to youth, sound knowledge about multi-cultural populations, and skills in collaborating with community partners and schools. A major component of this position is to provide services in French; therefore, fluency in French is necessary to provide these services.
