A quite and fast workplace. The benefit is excellent.
Processing Representative II (Former Employee), Boston, MA – May 25, 2012
Pros: free tea and crackers, cheap coffee.
Cons: no breaks, can't go to work late a minute.
The company provides very good benefit. The health insurance premium is very low and under a good plan including dental. The bonus and rate give employees every year. The DCP distributes quarterly. 98% of my managers and 100% of my co-workers are very nice. However, most of my managers' professional knowledge are poor. Sometimes they can't help me right – more... away. Some of my co-workers are not honest. They choose the easy work and walk around. I have to work very hard to keep my standard of productivity and quality. The handwriting on some new account applications is very hard to read. – less

Great company, bad attitude.
Customer Service Rep (Former Employee), Quincy Ma – May 21, 2012
Pros: benefits, experience, history.
Cons: work life balance of zero.
Although a great mutual fund company to work for, they leave a lot to be desired in their treatment of employee's. They interviewed me at the Boylston St Address. Told me I was hired, and that the customer service department was moving to Quincy the next day. This was NOT a distance I would have found acceptable prior to being offered the job. I was – more... desperate, so accepted the position. Only then did I find out their draconian polices on attendance. No leniency was given to employee's who had to take the Red Line. Through no fault of our own were were routinely late, the red line regularly broke down with us on it... MFS was NOT understanding about this.

This was 2008-2009. Perhaps they have come to understand that they are no longer located in the center of Boston. If they have realized this, then they are a fine company to work for. If they have yet to realize this, pass on the offer. – less

Productive and laid back work place ...
Risk Control Administrater (Former Employee), Boston, MA – December 21, 2011
Pros: never to busy but never to slow.
Cons: dont really have any
MFS was a pretty cool place to work at. I had my own cubicle which included a desk, a computer, and my own phone line. I stayed busy for the majority of the day!

Proactive sales environment with good work life balance
Senior Sales Representative (Current Employee), Boston, MA – November 16, 2011
Pros: great company history and culture
Cons: not much growth potential
It has been a great experience to work for MFS but sometimes good things need to come to an end. There is not much upside potential in my department. Everyone is settled in their positions as Wholesalers and managers with plenty of seniority/vesting in the company. This means, if I want to grow I will need to leave MFS. Sad, but that's the way it goes.

Bos2NYC – August 10, 2012

I can't say too many bad things about this company...Diversity is a big issue with minorities not only women which is an improvement but also very few "Black Men" in management...The company has a huge population of "Italian & Irish " men and women a like with friends and family almost like the "Boston Fire Department" if you know the history of Boston...otherwise this company has great benefits but if your an minority working for this company stay strong one day you might be that person working management.
