Purpose of Position
The position leads, develops and manages the accounting, payroll, financial planning, tax, treasury, human resources, risk management and administrative functions for Metalogic Inspection Services Inc. (“Metalogic”). Responsibilities include directing accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll; preparation and review of financial statements, budgets, forecasts and management reports; overseeing all treasury functions, including credit risk management; ensuring compliance with labor laws and applicable collective bargaining agreements; supervising the operation of Metalogic’s computer systems; understanding and mitigating key elements of Metalogic’s risk profile; identifying and executing initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Metalogic’s business processes and internal controls; and analyzing trends and presenting recommendations to management. The position operates as a member of the Metalogic management team to ensure that Metalogic successfully executes its business plan and achieves its financial and operational objectives.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
Manage all aspects of accounting transaction processing, ensuring that accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll activities are performed accurately within established timeframes and according to approved Metalogic operating procedures and MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company policies.
Develop, communicate, maintain and monitor compliance with accounting policies, procedures and internal controls over financial reporting.
Lead the preparation, review and issuance of financial statements in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles in the United States and Canada; review and analyze monthly variance reports; report results to senior management; develop and implement plans to mitigate risks and enhance opportunities.
Coordinate the development and maintenance of planning and budgeting systems, general ledgers and accounting reports.
Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for business development, acquisitions, capital investments, pricing decisions and contract negotiations, to support management objectives.
Manage the development and production of the corporate and departmental annual budget and ten-year plans.
Develop strategic and operational plans for control, management, and improvement of departmental capabilities and for ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting and reporting requirements associated with various contracts and financings for Metalogic projects.
Prepare, review and submit quarterly, annual and other periodic compliance reports to internal departments and external agencies, ensuring that the operations are compliant with all regulatory, banking and tax requirements in the United States and Canada.
Perform administrative activities necessary to effectively manage human resources, including employee recruitment, development and safety; compensation and benefits administration; employee counseling and motivation, communication of organization goals and objectives, and compliance with national and provincial labor laws.
Manage third party service providers to which administrative functions have been outsourced.
Execute special projects as directed by senior management, including financial, operations, and regulatory compliance initiatives.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or business administration or related field; MBA or certified public accountant preferred or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree.)
Eight years of directly related accounting experience, including three years of supervisory or management responsibilities.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential. Experience with Great Plains accounting software (payables, receivables, payroll, project accounting, contract management, general ledger, reporting) highly desirable.
