The successful Payroll and Benefits Coordinator will be responsible for all payroll and benefits for Metal World Incorporated unionized employees. They will prepare weekly payroll and establish new hires in the payroll system and ensure all information is received such as union referrals, TD4 and TD1. They will process layoffs, Records of Employment, respond to Employment Insurance inquiries, prepare Receiver General remittances and pay all payroll remittances (Hapset, WHSCC and CCRA). They will be familiar with all collective agreements and the upcoming changes that affect Metal World Incorporated payrolls. They will be responsible for T4’s and any payroll adjustments and union remittances. They will print reports for monthly remittances for Metal World Incorporated, issue retroactive pay, prepare bi-weekly A/P cheques, enroll employees in the Pension, RRSP’s and medical benefits, ensure that all changes are made during salary increases and pay benefits and other duties as required.
The successful candidate will have a Business Administration or Accounting Diploma, excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, extensive experience in reading and interpreting collective agreements and the ability to multi-task and to meet tight deadlines. The successful candidate will have ten to fifteen years experience in accounting/payroll field.
