The Meredith Centre is a multi-purpose community recreational and cultural centre that is named after Mrs. Elizabeth Meredith and her family, who donated 21 acres of land.
As a cultural and sports complex, the Meredith Centre will be offering a multitude of services to the residents and non-residents of Chelsea such as programs for all ages and interests (cultural, recreational and sports), facility rental, special programs and events, arena, child-minding, fitness facility, warm and inviting lounge with canteen and entertainment, Pro Shop, soccer & baseball fields, and much more!
Currently the centre is comprised of two components – the community centre and the arena. The multi-sports gymnasium to be added later. This state-of-the art, environmentally-friendly facility is surrounded by a landscaped park and natural wetland. A hub for sports such as cross-country skiing, soccer, hockey and rugby, the centre offers recreational and learning programs for young and old and provide exhibit space for local artists and performance space for theatre and special events.
The Meredith Centre is located off Old Chelsea Road, adjacent to the soccer fields, Chelsea Elementary School, and the current Old Chelsea Market.

Who owns the buildings and land around the Meredith Centre? -The 21 acres that was donated by the Meredith family is owned by the Chelsea Foundation. The Meredith Centre itself is owned by the Municipality of Chelsea in accordance with the funding agreement that was reached with the provincial and federal governments. The land under the buildings is leased to the Municipality by the Chelsea Foundation, the terms of which will ensure the property’s use as a recreational and community centre. – less
