As a Sr. Network System Specialist you will be responsible for implementing infrastructure projects and providing 7x24 support. You will respond to, troubleshoot, determine root cause and resolve network and information systems issues. Escalate to and manage 3rd party vendors as required. You will be responsible for monitoring, measuring and reporting on the performance and capacity of Enterprise Data networks. Hours of work are Monday to Friday – 7.5 hours daily or as required. After hours support/on-call duties will be required.

Duties, Responsibilities and Job Functions

  • Conduct security, performance and risk analysis for network and information systems
  • Ensure monitoring of key infrastructure for both security and stability
  • Ensure infrastructure documentation and inventories are up to date and maintained
  • Provide training and mentorship of network and systems troubleshooting skills to other team members
  • Create policies and procedures for infrastructure change management
  • Install, configure and maintain servers, network infrastructure and Wi-Fi systems
  • Act as a level-3 escalation point for network and systems related incidents
  • Assist in planning, documenting and implementing disaster recovery strategies
  • Ensure all assigned incidents are properly addressed in accordance with predetermined Service Levels and Incident Management processes
  • Perform trend analysis to highlight reoccurring incidents within the computing environment and work with the IT Team to take corrective action
  • Work with the IT Team to ensure a smooth support transition from the project implementation teams to the Technical Services & Support team
  • Work with project teams, IT, and business customers to support initiatives, provide estimates, assist with implementations and ensure that solutions are best of breed
  • Become familiar with the corporate application, server, network and roadside infrastructure
  • Communicate changes, fixes and processes to the end-user community
  • Ensure management is updated on issues in a timely manner
  • Additional tasks may be assigned as required


  • Minimum of 7 years of experience supporting and administering Juniper, Cisco and Aruba networks and their technologies required (Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Wireless)
  • Experience with F5 BIG-IP appliance management required
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server and Unix operating systems required
  • Experience with VMware ESXi virtualization required
  • Experience managing Microsoft Active Directory, DNS and DHCP preferred
  • Experience with managing Cisco UCS infrastructure an asset
  • College or University degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science required
  • JNCIA/CCNA/CCNP/CCSP/CISSP technical certifications an asset
  • Experience with IT security technologies and best practices required
  • Knowledge and experience with IT governance frameworks such as COBIT and PCI DSS an asset
  • Experience deploying and supporting highly available local and wide area networks required
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban preferred
  • Strong ability to communicate and document clearly and effectively
  • Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team environment
  • Ability to follow processes and guidelines
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff
  • Ability to take personal initiative and observe confidentiality
  • Ability to work with internal and external vendors in a professional manner
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
