Resource Development Coordinator
20 Hours per Week
Mennonite Coalition for Refugee Support (MCRS), a dynamic, community-oriented non-profit organization that supports refugee claimants in Waterloo region, seeks a Resource Development Coordinator.
The position’s main responsibilities are Fundraising and Communications for MCRS. Fundraising activities include: researching and identifying potential financial donors; nurturing current donors (both individuals and churches); assisting with grant proposals; working with volunteers to initiate and plan fundraising events. Communications activities include: increasing public awareness of MCRS and its work; assisting with the creation of educational materials; coordinating the digital story-telling project, managing social media and mass mailings.
The Resource Development Coordinator will enjoy developing a public presence in the community in order to raise awareness of and financial support for MCRS.
University or college degree required, with courses in languages, marketing, or public speaking preferred.
Experience in successful fundraising for the non-profit sector, including major solicitation and cultivation.
Strong communication skills in public-speaking and writing for print and electronic media.
Marketing, sales, or business background with courses in writing and media is desirable.
Experience with event coordination and graphic design are desirable.
Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and video editing software are assets.
Familiarity with and appreciation for Mennonite faith principles and institutions is desirable, as is an interest in immigration and refugee issues.
