Assistant Controller

Melrose Café & Bar is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the Financial Controller. The ideal candidate will posses organizational and interpersonal skills while working in a fast-paced environment to aid in the Payroll and Finance operations. You will be responsible to support the clerical system and input data. This is a position for an individual who is able to multi-task, deadline oriented and values teamwork.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

 Prepare bank deposits, auditing cash
 Data entry (daily sales, etc)
 Prepares financial statements
 Processing monies, reimbursements and inventories
 Allocate and order office supplies
 Input invoices and follow up on corrections, questions and credits
 Itemize, verify, & bill out for transfers of products
 Attend General Meetings and one-on-one meetings with Cash Processor/Controller
 Interact with other members of the Controls group and other departments to resolve issues and provide support
 Assist with attendance, tracking and corrections
 Ensure accuracy and compliance to accounting standards, procedures and internal controls
 Assist with Payroll and petty cash reimbursements
 Prepare & send receipts
 Reports directly to the Financial Controller

Candidate Requirements:

 Minimum education of a High School Diploma required
 Currently enrolled or graduated with post secondary education focusing on financial, accounting or administration considered an asset
 6+ months experience in an accounting or administrative role considered an asset
 Ability to learn quickly and thrive under pressure
 Takes initiative to complete projects to achieve deadlines
 Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
 Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work with staff at all levels
 Proven ability with confidential information and independent problem solving skills

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time

Salary: $40,000.00 + Benefits
