Pharmacy Assistant (Current Employee) – Burnaby, BC – 2 November 2017
The work day typically starts off fairly slow and picks up later on in the afternoon when the deliveries start going out. Most employees are only trained on one station, however they have recently started to make a point on training employees on multiple stations in case we are short staffed that day and another station needs assistance. The workplace is extremely busy and often hard to keep up with, as the number of staff doesn't exactly meet the needs of the pharmacy. This tends to cause the staff to work quite a bit of overtime, often every day. The hardest part of the job is being able to keep up with the pace while still producing quality work and not making medication errors.
Friendly coworkers, full time position gets benefits
Overtime every day, understaffed, wage increase very slow
Poor wages, no opportunity, employees on power trips
Pharmacy Assistant (Former Employee) – Barrie, ON – 25 October 2017
It needs a complete overhaul! Some do the work of 3 while others barely due the work of 1!! Not in the “original “ group then forget about having input into anything including hours!! In fact some employees would actually just change the schedule to suit their needs! And management did nothing! Long hours, often missing breaks lunches and washroom stops!!Terrible pay. People hired after with the right connections made more. One plus, Customers and nurses were awesome to interact with!!
Pharmacy Assistant (Former Employee) – Picton, ON – 10 October 2017
The hardest part of the job was getting along with all your coworkers. The management at store level was great, but not so much at upper levels. The hours are great, but due to cut backs it was hard to keep a job.
Coordinator (Current Employee) – Head Office, Markham, ON – 8 June 2017
I've been working for MPGL for 2 years now at Head Office. The people in this organization really make this place! All of the departments work together in order to achieve our main goal - providing excellence in pharmaceutical care to meet the individual needs of each client. Every day comes with its challenges and rewards that allow you to grow in your role.
Pharmacy Assistant (Former Employee) – Ottawa, ON – 1 March 2017
Longest place of work, good staff as well as a good productive days. Always kept busy and good support from the staff and co-worker team. Location was a convenient distance from my house, and the management team was understanding and helpful.
Pharmacy Assistant (Current Employee) – Burnaby, BC – 2 February 2017
Terrible managed under crazy busy environment. Very cheap on wage increase per year, around 20-30 cents per calendar year. Not easy to take vacation because there's such a limited people working. have 30 min of lunch break, of course no pay. Often times taking lunch at 3:00 pm because it's too busy.
Pharmacy Assistant (Current Employee) – Barrie, ON – 1 December 2016
The management is severely lacking, so the pharmacists all believe they are in charge. There was an employee who constantly made derogatory comments that were overlooked completely. People talk down to one another and about each other. Not one part of this job was positive. We were expected to stay later than our scheduled hours almost daily with no respect for life outside of work.
Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee) – Oshawa, ON – 21 September 2016
Good pay, good benefits, good working hours, fair, unionized, uniform allowance- some staff however acts like they are the boss and tell others what to do, even though they have zero authority or right to do so.
Good hours, fair with everyone, medical/dental benefits
Seniority based only, no ortho benefits, RX benefits only when filling at their location, strict scheduled shifts, no flexibility there
Pharmacy Assistant (Former Employee) – Peterborough, ON – 21 June 2016
Girls there are catty... So much drama and you will only get advancement when you have been there 10 years. You are stuck doing all the jobs no one wants over and over. No vacation until your second year. If you are sick for more than 1 day... Make sure u get a sick note! Oh and you get no respect! One of the most horrible job experiences ive personally ever had! Save your sanity! ( based on my own experience/opinon... - be aware.. Yours may be different)
workload is managable, hours, boss and supervisors are caring
staff, wage is not great, no sick pay for 5 years, lunch is not paid (but only if you work an extra half hour), very hard to advance
Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee) – Mississauga, ON – 27 January 2016
(Its my opinion you may exprience better or bad) Not cooperative staff. No further advancement. Not enough employees too much work load. Left job already in less than a year. Few bossy people Those who work there for longer time mor than 10 years have reserved spot even in dinning room
