MediBus is a new mobile health clinic that will travel throughout Nova Scotia. Services will initially be offered in the counties of Annapolis, Digby, Non-Urban Halifax, Hants, Kings, Lunenburg, Queens, Shelburne and Yarmouth.

MediBus is currently looking for Phlebotomists in these communities.

Job Description:

The MediBus Phlebotomist will perform assigned duties to assist in the collection of blood components and other samples as well as other related functions within the MediBus. The incumbent must provide excellent customer service, practice good judgment, and promote MediBus objectives. The incumbent must adhere to all current operating procedures, handling practices and Occupational Health & Safety regulations. The successful candidate will support clients/patients in the home and on the MediBus itself.


Obtains capillary and venous blood samples
Assembles and prepares appropriate collection supplies, equipment and records
Prepares patient for collection and verifies that the requisition is complete
Performs phlebotomy and/or sample collection
Monitors the patient
Labels specimen tubes, and assists in preparing accompanying records
Prepares samples for transportation
Packs, orders, reconciles and restocks supplies
Performs clerical functions related to MediBus collections
Assists with loading, unloading and carrying of collection equipment and supplies
Sets up and maintains equipment and supplies

High School Diploma
Completed post-secondary courses at an officially recognized community college or technical institution related to phlebotomy
Completed practicum that includes a minimum 100 hours of clinical practice and at least 100 venipunctures
Minimum of one year of experience in performing phlebotomy
Excellent communication skills in English and/or required. Multiple language skills are considered an asset.
